So I was wondering, what’s everyone’s opinions on camping? Some people consider it a “tactic”, and they think it’s smart. To me, how is sitting in a corner smart? Anyone could do that. Heck, even Caboose could! But yeah, I personally think (and I don’t mean to offend anyone here) camping is a noob strategy/tactic/whatever you wanna call it. Because if everyone camped, how the heck would you play the game? With sniping, yes, that’s obvious. You don’t run around and snipe. So yeah, I’d like to know what everyone else thinks too.
It honestly depends on what gametype and what weapons you have. Today for example i was playing Team Slayer on Pinnacle and i just camped around the Shotgun spawn with the Shotgun and managed to get an Untouchable kill streak and in the end my Team only won by 1 kill so if i hadn’t done that we probably would of lost the game.
But like you said if you have a Sniper you shouldn’t be going round running and gunning but instead camping in a spot which will benefit you and your team.

I know what you mean but as a previously said if that Sniper camps at the Needle Rifle spawn and is able to take out the people at the opposite flag and cover you. What i do hate is when they will camp in an objective game and just start going for random kills rather than helping the team play the objective.

Oh my gosh, I know, right? If they want to kill people instead of playing an objective game, then they shouldn’t be playing it!

If they want to kill people, go play Team Slayer. It’s so difficult to play objective if your Sniper is trying to get random kills and their sniper is picking people off as you go for their objective. I completely agree. There’s been so many times where I just want to go and play an objective game and that happens. One time I went to go capture the flag and the whole team was camping by it! I usually get irritated and nowadays I just wind up playing Crashsite in Firefight for Objective (by myself).

Camping is a map flaw, not a player flaw. 99% of the time.
You want a solution to help reduce camping? Remove radar. Much less incentive to just sit in a corner if you don’t have eyes in the back of your head.

I think the opposite of that. Whenever i don’t have a radar i slow down and will generally camp in a small area until i spot someone so i can push them

Those who sit long enough should be shot with a Orbital Round and their streak stripped. They should also lose 100,000cR and if they don’t have that much, put them in debt.

It’s still pretty easy to counter
Camping isn’t very effective against a competent team. If they’re communicating, all of they know you’re there right away, and know to be careful. And it’s not like the grenades in this game are exactly underpowered.

Countering campers in Halo Reach is very very very easy. I don’t see how anyone could have an issue not knowing where the enemy team is at all times. It’s pretty simple rule, don’t go into areas of the map alone where your team has not covered yet and you know enemies are lurking in. I guess you need good awareness to know where a camper will be but I barely get camped on. It’s not like CoD where some dude can camp an entire match with a sniper and no one can get to him. In Halo we have lots of nades and weapons on the map to vounter a camper.
As for camping myself. The most I’ve ever sat in one spot was probably for 5-10 seconds where I know an unsuspecting enemy is coming around a corner and of course I’ll pick a corner and take him out real fast.
In a game like reach where we have terrible game breaking mechanics like armor lock camping is just another tool to beat the cheap players with a little taste of their own medicine. I also have no issue purposely camping on bad maps to make a point “hey this map is bad, don’t vote for it again unless you want me to kill you even more next time”.
Wow. Just did a match of Capture the Flag. Two people on my time quit, one on the other team quits and one isn’t moving, so it’s two on two. What do they do? They camp by their flag instead of trying to capture ours. And I don’t know how, but when I tried sneaking up on them with Active Camo (crouch walking) they saw me the second I came over! On top of that, they were both camping with Energy Swords.
