Now that I ran out of gold, I’m passing my Halo time by playing some campaign challenges, until I get it renewed.
Anyway, Halo 4’s weekly campaign challenges are way too easy for being weekly challenges. It’s difficulty should be like Reach’s LASO challenges, or at least include more Iron skulls, IMO.
All the iron skull does is force people to play coop (or use the quit/resume exploit - which negates the skull entirely so it may as well not be on). Unless its a full on LASO challenge (which I would be very pleased to see), I’ll be glad never to see iron skull listed.
Coop is already SOOO much easier than solo, iron skull just makes it near impossible to solo.
This weeks challenges are much easier than normal. I did both challenges combined in like 20 mins solo on dawn.
I never understood the point of campaign challenges. It’s just a 2 hour slugfest of repeatedly dying in your attempts at running past invincible enemies for a mediocre XP reward.
I just love playing high difficulty campaign even if it is repetitive.
You do notice yourself getting better and better at it. I’ve played sooo much Quake 1, enemies standing in exactly the same spots every playthrough but its still epic once you merk at it.

Because it’s fun for people who don’t like/hate multiplayer? maybe, just a guess

Hehehe on Co-op, it can be done under 5-10 mins.

Levels like Forerunner and Midnight, yeah.
Mastering the checkpoint system is key.
Nope.
Yep.
Am I the only one who felt the enemies were invincible with the Thunderstorm, Tilt and Mythic skulls on? Like, the elites’ shields regenerated faster than I could pump them full of PP overcharges…
Why don’t we have more variate? Like, complete a mission whit only UNSC weapons, or assassinate 30 enemies in one mission with Tough Luck on, destroy every land vehicle in a mission on Heroic or harder with the Famine skull on or something like this.
Also, why don’t we have more variate in Spartan Ops? Kill “x” number of these and those is not something I like. For example, complete a chapter on heroic with no deaths or stuck “x” number of enemies with stickies or kill them with vehicle or Covenant weapons.

Whenever you see those combination of skulls required especially on legendary you should also activate catch. Sprint behind Elites and Knights for a 1-hit assassination while they’re in the grenade throwing animation.
> Am I the only one who felt the enemies were invincible with the Thunderstorm, Tilt and Mythic skulls on? Like, the elites’ shields regenerated faster than I could pump them full of PP overcharges…
Poster above is right about assassinations. But this week you could do it on heroic which meant 3 plasma pistol overcharges took down shields, so I mainly did that with the excessive amount of PPs about on dawn.

All over this idea! unfortunately doesn’t seem likely to happen though

You’re going at it the wrong way. When you’re facing damage sponge Generals, the key is to close the distance and assassinate or run past them. Also, never use the overcharge on them, it’s been obsolete since Reach.
No offense intended man, you’ve made some of the most sound posts I’ve seen on this forum recently.

Not exactly the kind of challenges that makes me leap for joy, but they’d be better than what we have now.

None taken. I guess I’m just going about it wrong. I only tried to get the challenges once because I was SR129 and wanted to hit 130 ASAP and I was losing my mind trying to figure out why people found SLASO etc fun lol.
Campaign challenges have really gotten very boring by now. It’s “complete this/any level on heroic/legendary with >list of skulls< on.” That’s it.
Why are there no challenges that involve…
completing a mission within a certain time limit
killing a certain number of a specific kind of enemy (Grunts, Knights, whatever)
getting a certain number of kills with a specific weapon
completing a mission without killing more than X enemies
completing a mission without firing a single shot, i.e. melee and grenades only
completing a mission without using a certain weapon or vehicle
I know that none of these examples are in any way new or unique, but they still offer some variety to “complete this/any level on heroic/legendary with >list of skulls< on.”

Well it does encourage different approach.
If you think H3/Reach/H4 is intense, you haven’t seen H2.

-if it were customizable, it’d be an incredible option
-while I’d prefer Campaign had commendations, I’d rather not see it classed as a challenge (unless we’re talking about sequences i.e. overkill, killimanjaro)
-still in the realm of commendations. How about unique kills (kill Grunts with every usable weapon on the level)?
-yeah I guess that could work
-zero shot? That’d be badass!
-I guess it could work for Mantis/Banshee sections

I tried doing that, but the game lags when you have all the skulls activated, like all the power and game changing stuff really messes with the game lol

There’s an easy fix for how repetitive H4 Campaign challenges are.
Get an USB drive
Make a LASO save for any mission (turn on at least Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tough Luck, Famine, Cloud), starting at rally point alpha. Save and quit at a checkpoint before the end of level
Transfer save to USB drive
Plug in USB drive to computer and back it up somewhere
This works for any Solo challenge. Now whenever you see a relevant challenge, you don’t have to waste 10 minutes of your life. Just drop in your saved game and finish it from there. “Weekly” challenges made even more pathetic.
But make sure you let the game transition to the next level + save and quit or you won’t get the XP.
