Campaign was fantastic.... (SPOILERS)

I have no clue why this game got bad scores on its campaign, other than maybe being hard to follow if you dont understand the lore then yes. but it was the most action packed halo campaign to date and im dying to see what happens next. and I really hope monitor 031 plays more of a role in future games… she was awesome. In the end i hope chief can find a way to convince cortana to stop, because i have a feeling she will be the primary antagonist in halo 6.

I agree.

Lol I don’t know… For me, the Campaign was exactly what the doctor ordered after Reach and Halo 3… Huge fights, collectible skulls, funny enemy dialogue, actually OPTIONAL vehicle sections, and hidden legendary vehicles and weapons… Then there’s the Soldiers stealing weapons/vehicles and completely destroying you with them (which took me by surprise and made me fall over laughing.)

I’ve actually found success with the squad system as well but you have to order them very often for it to work. Really helps when you tell them to attack the Warden and you make a flanking route behind him to attack his core, then when he turns around to engage you, your teammates attack him from behind as well (their bullets doing much more damage.)

I also liked the love letter to Palmer from one of the SOS Elites xD

yeah, i know… i cant wait to plat though it again see all the Easter eggs and get the skulls. makes the wait for the next part of the story even harder

Absolutely disagree. The plot was bad, thoroughly bad. So much potential only to be wasted on another “man vs machine” story.

They’d been prepping for that ever since the original halos, it was going to happen…just the how would change.

I enjoyed watching the campaign mostly, but I don’t feel the small bits of Chief and Blue Team vs large swaths of Osiris paid off as much as they would have liked.

I did prefer in other games how every level had a different environment an feel instead of in this how there were like 3-4 levels in one place looking exactly the same. Plus those short missions where it was just getting Intel and talking to npcs made me sick.

But overall it was amazing.

They thought out the ending pretty damn well.

My only complaint about the campaign was the dramatic personality change by Cortana in order to set her up as the villain. Spent most of the time as the Chief thinking, “That is NOT Cortana. This is a trick.”

Maybe it is a trick. A long drawn out trick created in the deepest, darkest parts of 343i by none other than the mastermind that is Frank O’Conner, a trick that will keep us guessing all the way to Halo 6 before dropping an even bigger twist that makes everything slip neatly into place.

I personally think this story has opened up a lot of potential going onward, and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

The only people who hate Halo 5 are Halo 3 fanwankers.

My personal theory is that it isn’t actually Cortana. There were a lot of rampant personality spikes due to what she did at the end of 4. I think that the Cortana in Halo 5 is one of them, hence the drastic personality change.

I love Halo. Played since day 1 in Kirkland WA, Microsoft HQ. That being said, 5 is good. Shortest campaign ever, IMHO…

Think about her attitude the first time she plugged into Halo’s control room. She struggled to keep her ego in check there.

But if she truly cured rampancy then it wouldn’t matter?

I think that the campaign was awesome. There was a bigger and better game hidden in the 7 hour campaign. I fell like 343i should have waits until 2016 and released Halo 6 in 2020. With the expansive universe in Halo the game should be 15+ hours to cover the vast amount of story details. I would give the campaign a 8/10 and I wish that 343i would wait until 2019/2020 to release Halo 6 so that Chief’s last game can be executed as smoothly as possible.

I think the story gets a lot of hate because it wasn’t the Halo story people wanted to hear. I thought the story was pretty good. I’m going through it again and catching the things I missed the first time.

I personally loved the campaign. I do wish they had filled some gaps for me… Like.

  1. Who was the Orange AI in pilot gear? Why is he wearing pilot gear?
  2. How did buck become a spartan?
  3. How did lock become a spartan? WTF is oni?
  4. Blue team is chiefs friends. Why can we see their faces?

But I mean other then that stuff I really liked it. I liked lock a lot her came off very bad -Yoink- and i like how him a buck teased eachother. Really I loved locks whole team. Gave me good vibes of playing odst. Was a good time. Would do again.

all those questions are answered in halos expanded universe, books and comics and what not. this campaign was fan service in my opinion. it was made for the super fans.
