Campaign Vs. Multiplayer

We all can see just how fast-paced the Halo 5 multiplayer is going to be, but what I want to know is if that same game speed will carry over to the campaign. Personally, I’d like a campaign that I could sit back, relax, and take a breather from the intense pvp action. All the players in multiplayer get spartan abilities, but when you play as Master Chief or Agent Locke in the campaign, will you also have those abilities? Would that make the campaign better? Worse? It would definitely make the campaign faster paced, but then you would also need AI with some of the same abilities or you would greatly outmatch them. Also, if they didn’t have these abilities in campaign, it would be quite the shellshock to switch between the two gamemodes. What do you guys think?

Halo 5 might not be as fast-paced as we seen in the videos. Who knows? Anyway, Campaign will always be the first thing I play in Halo, with the TMCC being the exception.

I believe that Kill times and Movement speed are the ones that determines the pace of the gameplay not the Spartan Abilities themselves.

The Spartan characters are definitely gonna have these new mechanics

Speaking of Spartan Abilities, I think they will (positively) change the campaign in a huge way

Ground Pound : Great way of clearing out groups of enemies, but should only work like that If they aren’t aware of your location I hope that AI dodges it when they see it coming or shoot the Spartan while he charge it so it wouldn’t be so spammable.

Thrusters : This ability should make traversing the map much more interesting. It will also make dodging Nades and Mortar strikes much easier.

SmartScope : Adds nothing but immersion and some ugly scopes really.

Clambering : Interesting way to get on top of things.

Sliding : Another way of avoiding enemy explosives, I like the Idea of sliding into cover in campaign.

Shoulder tackle : Good offensive addition, It’d be pretty great if it can kill multiple (2-3) grunts and jackal minors at once.

Unlimited Sprint : This would be helpful if the maps are like the size of Reach campaign maps with more Open world feel to it.

IMO If done right Halo 5 campaign would feel the most engaging halo campaign yet .With things like Clambering and Thruster that could add verticality and possibly platforming into the game. Also helps in adding ways to interact more with the environment and with GnP, Sliding and Tackling, new melee mechanics that adds variety of how we deal with or how we engage an enemy.

They Also add immersion that finally and hopefully make us feel playing as a Spartan and not some dude in a Power armor.

(Feel free to agree or disagree )

You raise a good question. Will our enemies in Halo 5 get similar abilities? e.g. Elites?

Personally I don’t think they should, I mean, all the leaping and teleporting and flying of the Promethean enemies means they are already moving around enough to put up a good fight.

Covenant-wise however, instead of upgrading the enemies, they should bring back the enemies that would suit the new combat. e.g. super-jumping Skirmishers and fast-flying Drones.

We will have these abilities in the campaign. Confirmed by Josh Holmes.

But don’t know if it’s going to be the same gameplay for Locke and Chief.

An interesting question. I think we’ll have to wait for some campaign gameplay.

Likely pretty similar. I mean chief’s H4 armor already had thrusters on it, which is key to most of the new ‘special’ abilities that are more than just “you can climb now.”
