Recently listening to the old halo soundtracks, it seems to me a lot of things that made halo memorable was that mysterious, huge universe feeling. like the covenant was top priority and forerunner stuff was this background ancient superior extinct thing.
Now that forerunners are alive and real, the superior thing kinda disappeared. it seems like the ancient humans and precursors could make a fresh mysterious feeling but they arent being used that way, (or even the flood). itd be interesting to see 343i create this atmosphere in the game with their ideas. (maybe this is done in the books? idk havent kept up with the lore since H3). or is it just me??
I think I know exactly what you’re talking about, but I’m not willing to go so far as to suggest that there’s nothing memorable about the current batch of Halos. They don’t necessarily cash in on all of the same visual, auditory, or story cues as the previous games, and that’s okay. I give free reign to the creative team to make their own way with new Halo and provide us with a completely new visual language, new audio (keep up the great work, Kazuma!), and new stories that are defined more by personal interactions than they are by epic pan-galactic explosions. Although I’m sure we’ll get some of those too.
MCC will always be there if you need a fix of epic mystery, but don’t wish for New Halo to just be the same old thing. Let it be its own thing. You don’t have to love it, but I’m sure you can appreciate the fact that it isn’t just covering the same old ground over and over again.
I feel like they should made it long but that’s just my opinion
I’m a really big lore nerd, I for some reason just enjoy the lore and the universes in all kinds of games.
I agree with the OP, I have lost that sense of mystery that came with the rings and the ARK and the flood locked away for thousands of years. But surely all of that had to be revealed at some point and now that it is, it kinda sucks. There still is some mystery involved, but whats left is kinda complicated and no as clear as what we didn’t know before.
The biggest drawback for me now when it comes to the halo universe now is the the big enemy. Currently I don’t think the Prometheans are as interesting as the covenant. I loved the fact that you were fighting as a super solider for the far Superior human race. This massive religious civilization tries to destroy you, and you are the only hope for humanity. Well now the covenant are kinda destroyed that feeling that I had is kinda gone.
I think 343I should of made the storyline for halo 5 better and longer.
