So as many of you have already seen this trailer at 1:00 you see the captain of the Infinity waving his finger at the chief (something a smart person wouldn’t do) and as some people know this scene is an argument between the captain and the Chief/Cortana.
In short, the captain wants to leave the planet but Chief and Cortana say they need to stay because of this unknown enemy that is a danger to earth. Then in the same trailer, at 2:24 you see chief and a bunch of spartan 4’s turn around.
theory
So my guess is that chief and Cortana decide that they can’t leave with the ship so they’re about to leave when a bunch of spartan 4’s come up and tell them that they’re with them and the group of Spartans leave to stop this unknown enemy. Then in the E3 2012 trailer at 5:18 you see the Chief in a ghost escaping something. Could this be that he’s racing back to the Infinity before it leaves the planet.
Now, what happens when the captain finds out that the Chief and the Spartan 4’s disobeyed a direct order? My idea is Court Martial, but when the crew hears about that they decide to stand behind the chief and say if the chief gets the boot then they all are.
The Infinity never leaves Requiem. While its true that Del Rio wants to leave and is angry with what the Chief is saying, nothing so unprofessional would every happen.

i’m sure they’re making repairs so that they can leave

no, i’m saying that Del Rion thinks they are still on the infinity, he doesn’t realize that they left with the chief, i’m sure cortana did something so he wouldn’t realize that they left

Making repairs and leaving are two very different things. While some on the ship have great respect for the Chief, I doubt they have any reason to doubt their Captain, and the Chief certainly respects the chain of command.
Del Rio is not going to command the Infinity to leave, and the Spartans IVs most certainly aren’t going to commit such an act of disobedience.
It’s still a weak plot point. To imply that Chief and the Spartan-IVs would disobey orders so blatantly and could somehow stop a universe threatening ancient evil by themselves is ridiculous.

i’m sure cortana has a plan and they knew what they are up for. Spartans are supposed to go beyond the call of duty, so they’ll do what they need to do to defend earth

She is Rampant (maybe) so even if she would come up with a plan there are errors in it.
> i’m sure cortana has a plan and they knew what they are up for. Spartans are supposed to go beyond the call of duty, so they’ll do what they need to do to defend earth
So a rampant, defective AI will be able to outsmart an evil force that can threaten the universe? Seriously? And sorry, but Spartans will not blatantly disobey orders like you say they would.
But its obvious that something is going to happen that changes his mind, or else he wouldn’t let Chief go out in combat because of his “hallucinations”. Besides Cortana getting up and shouting I will not allow you to leave this planet… that probably got her kicked out of the bridge.
And it seems kind of obvious that the Infinity does end up taking off again. Its already making repairs, and seems to be up in the air in one of the screenshots, seems to be in a completely different place… a desert. But that just might be on the other side of the forest. Still, it looks way too unstable if it was sitting there like that.
Chief and Cortana probably make a compromise with Del Rio. It seems like the Infinity is the key to getting off Requiem, perhaps that scene with the Chief and Spartans is them getting ready to defend the Infinity as its boarded. It could be the time Chief gets into a mech. The Infinity leaves, but they try to stop the Ancient Evil from escaping.
Maybe even the Chief stays behind or takes a lift with the Ancient Evil.
But I’m pretty sure the Infinity does end up leaving.

I highly doubt this. Spartan Ops takes place 6 months after the campaign and the Infinity is still on Requiem.
i say in the crash and the contact with hostiles that follows everyone in the chain of command between del rio and lesky dies, at some point as we know there is a big argument, orders are given but then something bad happens, maybe cortana snapping and del rio’s order is irrelevant. eventually del rio dies in a big bang, sgt. johnson’ish and lesky is left in command. UNSC may decide to give him the job later maybe not who knows but the question is does the chief refuse orders or is he forced to leave the ship.
the crew rebelling against del rio for dissing the chief could be amazing, to see what the new spartans do, to actually put them in a moral dilemma…
i would like to know how does commander palmer fits in to this and is she one of the spartans who step outside with the chief.
i know it’s impossible this time around but i’m still hoping either linda, fred or kelly are on the infinity. reuniting blue team is the moment i’m most looking forward to in the trilogy.
perhaps better off for the big finale.
