Campaign should have begin in the Infinity

This campaign was really amazing and I thanks 343 for his wonderfull work. However, the biggest problem of the story was that a lot of events were told instead of being lived. I was disappointed with the campaign beginning because we started with a huge lack of information. It’s totally normal to don’t know what happened during the six month Master Chief was inconscious, but not knowing what he know was really disturbing and don’t help to get in his shoes.

First, the defeat of the Infinity appear in a quick cinematic and it’s disappointing. We should have fight the Banished in the Infinity and live this defeat ourselves

Then the meeting with the “weapon”, even me with a lot of knowledge in the halo universe, I had difficulties to understand her creation and purpose.

The campaign should have started with a cinematic where Halsey show “the weapon” to Master Chief and explain her the plan.
Then the infinity arrive on Halo, the Banished ambush us and we fight them.
New Cinematic with Atriox beating the Master Chief.
This way, we would have really feel the defeat of the Infinity.

I know there’s little chance of that happening, but 343 Industrie, if you read this, please, add a mission at the beginning of the campaign

The Infinity was the most powerfull UNSC ship, he would have deserved we spend a mission to defend it !

Hmm, dont know. I mean, the outcome is set. The Flagship Infinity will be destroyed. So, i wouldnt like to have a DLC playing on the Infinity.
I would like to see some Campaign expansion that starts at the end of the campaign. Or a sidemission with another spartan.

A prequel mission with another Spartan would do it

Honestly everything that they say happened in Infinite’s past sounds more exciting than what’s actually in the game’s plot.

I think it would have been a little too much of an info dump to meet the Weapon, explain the plan and then see part of it complete before fighting the Banished. You would basically be watching the climax to a Halo 6 that wasn’t done. It would be even more obvious you missed a game out.

Is it good that they spoon feed this information back to you?

I had thought they were with holding information to pull some sort of dramatic reveal regarding Cortana. I feel they have wrote that off the table and it’s just them trying to retcon the previous two games. So it really doesn’t serve any real narrative purpose. We know the Weapon is a Cortana clone on sight. Being coy about that until the last few missions was a waste of time and to pass it off as a reveal kind of weird.

Like with the Weapon, There is no conflict here. She is not going to go evil like Cortana. I know that because 343 went the extreme of killing Cortana offscreen because they did an evil AI story and killed her off to please Halo 5 haters. They have zero interest in exploring these issues. So it’s completely false when they pull the “oh I want to trust you”. It’s incredibly insincere.

Honestly Id rather they had just done a full reboot and been upfront with that after Halo 5. They spent six years being cagey about post Halo 5 events and the Galaxy just so they could hand wave it.

There should have been a game, at least, to resolve this conflict and seriously this is not like the Didact falling off a bridge. Cortana conquered the Galaxy for a year. There should be massive consequences for that never mind killing another wretched Brute Warlord which the game acts like it’s a big deal. Chief has killed thousands of their kind. Why are we suddenly treating six Covenant warships and one talking squid as this grand threat when it’s barely a footnote compared to what we’ve faced before?

Plus they decide to kill Cortana. So you give her a redemption arc but you give her an underwhelming sacrifice in a flashback cutscene. Didn’t even kill Atriox. So you want me to forgive Cortana, but not get her back? Right. I see. So I should lose because of 343’s mistakes?

They then try to pass this imposter off as if Chiefs getting Cortana back even though she’s a stranger. The Weapon is a constant reminder Cortana is dead and what he’s lost. Why would anyone think that’s heartfelt to have her take Cortanas name and place?

I like the idea of having a mission on the Infinity to start out the game as it would harken back to Halo CE.

I don’t like the story beats tho.
