Campaign question SPOILERS ARE INCLUDED!!!

Ok so let me get this straight. The humans went out into space because they were running from the flood. When that happened they came upon the forerunners and had a war with them. The humans were defeated by Didact and were then reset. But the flood then attacked forerunners. Forerunners create the composer to create half machine half organic life so that they could become imortal and so that the flood couldn’t kill them. They test it on the humans and it creates the prometheuns. Since it doesn’t work the Forerunners create the Halo rings, put all life in the galaxy on the rings, and then destroyed the flood with the Rings. At some point, Didact is imprisoned on Requiem and he gets the idea of using the composer to turn the rest of the humans into Prometheuns as revenge. I have 3 questions:

  1. Did the Didact create the Halo rings because in the game the librarian says he did?
  2. If so then when was he imprisoned for what he did during the human/forerunner war?
  3. And if he wants to use the composer to turn the rest of the human race into prometheuns, why is that the composer just turns them into dust?

I would really appreciate someone actually telling me and not posting some link where I have to read a bunch of stuff for 5 hours to find what I want. Thank you!!

PLEASE HELP

  1. The Didact didn’t create the rings, the Master Builder did. He’s another character shown in the terminal cut scenes. The Promethean project was intended to make the Forerunners immortal, but it wasn’t working like it should have. The Didact used it on humans to create an army to combat the flood, but it wasn’t enough.

  2. The Librarian (The Didact’s wife) believed that humans had great potential as a race, and sheltered them as best she could after the human-forerunner war. After the Didact started converting them to Prometheans she imprisoned him inside Requiem and then activated the Halo rings. He survived because Requiem is a shield world.

  3. The composer probably stores the humans intelligence and destroys their physical form. Turning them to ash is probably the first step in making Prometheans.

Thank you very much!! I really appreciate this!

  1. Master Builder (Faber) created the Rings. The Shield World project was the Didact’s answer to the flood, the Halos were Faber’s answer.

  2. We don’t know every little detail, but it’s well known that the Ur-Didact had a big hate for humans after he lost all of his sons in the war. His wife, the Librarian viewed humans as the inheritors of the Forerunner legacy, and thus from day one post-war she protected them no matter the cost, even going to the extent of imprisoning her hubby and turning his pet projects against him.

  3. To my understanding, when it destroys the physical form, it takes the genetic code and a brain imprint, as the “Proemthean” project was meant to maintain a Forerunner’s life, albeit in an artificial form. However, due to failures in the project (The Librarian states that the first several Promethean Forerunners experienced shattered persona), it was scrapped for the most part until the Didact utilized it to turn humans into his own personal army against his /other/ enemy, the flood. Killing two birds with one stone, per se.
