(I’m sure this is a fairly common question, but I couldn’t find a recent thread about it, so feel free to link me to one if it’s already been answered.)
I’m currently going through the Halo 2 LASO playlist (on Regret at the moment) for the achievements. It’s miserable, obviously, and I heard that when 343 updates the game, campaign playlist progress is reset, which would mean that I would have to redo the first 7 levels of Halo 2 Solo LASO.
For obvious reasons, I don’t want to do that, so I was wondering: does 343 say in advance which updates are going to cause this reset? And is there any way to delay updating my MCC until after I complete the LASO playlist (will playing offline delay the updates?)?
The update you might be referencing is the big one that came out last August. That one did indeed erase saved progress, but I’m fairly certain the updates after that have not affected checkpoint saves. Of course, any updates that may affect saves will be noted by 343i. I don’t think that should be the case anymore though since MCC’s updates from now on are relatively small (save for Reach) compared to the big one last August.
Playing offline would prevent your game from updating. However, it would also prevent achievements from unlocking. I have no idea if it would retroactively sync your offline progress with the servers the next time you went online.

There was one update that affected CE progress, but they made that known beforehand.
What Chimera said is exactly what happened to me. I lost my LASO progress was on mission 3 CE. Submitted a ticket hopefully it can be restored I’m not doing it again
