Campaign Network Co-Op Flight – Network Co-Op Feedback

Not expecting this and isn’t necessary, but having 4 tank guns would be cool, so you don’t have to fight over it

Further to my previous post

Framerate drops

Kept encountering these seemingly at random for 7-10 seconds every so often. Drop down to sub 20 fps

Distance

Would just love to see this increased/removed. If not removed, some better feedback on how far apart you are away and how m. Also, if weapon drops were to be enabled then a teleport rather than instant death would be preferable

Overall so far had a pretty positive experience. However, have encountered the odd bug and have some feedback.
Firstly, things feel good. No noticeable input lag. Enemies are fun to fight and seem to sync well. I assume there is something asynchronous, similar to multiplayer going on but it works great from my experience.

Player Collision

Immediately noticed this wasn’t present. It’s a vital part of co-op. Particularly for having fun and messing around. As a side note, I’d say it should be enabled for all players in multiplayer too. It’s a core feature of Halo. Not sure on the decision to disable it, but even having it as a toggle setting for the host to enable would be great

Camera control

Spectating is great, but I am not a fan of the fixed camera. It feels so limited and frustrating. Especially if you want a better veiw of the action. Would rather see it function like the likes of Halo 3. Where it is over the shoulder but upon moving the stick, switches to orbit cam. Click stick to reset to over the shoulder. Simple and flexible. Would also like to see this apply to multiplayer. Or go crazy and allow for an additional fly cam too?

Ping system

The ping system was a fantastic addition for multiplayer in Halo infinite. And is something that coop campaign would really benefit from, particularly in more open encounters. Obviously the flashlight takes the place of the ping control on controller. Immediate thought was press up on dpad for ping, hold up to toggle flashlight. Would love to see ping implemented in coop

Weapon/grenade dropping on death

Would love to see this as perhaps a toggle setting. Sure it’s benifitial sometimes to keep your weapons on death. I do however feel it takes some of the challenge out a bit though. Less risk. Can just charge in and die and not worry. Can also be useful if say your teammate dies with a power weapon, to be able to pick that up and win the fight so they can reapawn. It’s always been the way Halo has played. The risk of losing it and having to scavenge again to recover. A toggle would be perfect

Skipped checkpoint

On the escape section of the first mission, while jumping across the rooftops. We arrived at the bottom but there were no enemies and the door was locked. Had to restart mission to fix.

Spawned inside collision

On The Tower, spawned on teammate on one of the large struts and instead I was placed inside the strut

Good work everyone. Keep it up

Anyone had an issue with steam when they sign into the game? It just keeps looping for me and asking for the password again, The normal ver of the game works fine

Works so well!

Slight issues we are facing ( only two of us )

  1. When we skip cut scenes we sometimes get a black screen.

  2. Grappling Coils cause a small fps drop and network lag which result into missing the coil.

  3. Could not swap equipment ( sometimes it would ) Every time I couldn’t I would either have to die and 50/50 luck if I could or not or go to settings and remap the button.

All I have so far. But yes this is good fun like the old days

Just got off a session with a friend.
We got up to dig site, Quite fun altogether.
Some problems I encountered were

  1. Desync with the host caused the gameplay feedback to be confusing
eg. We are driving a Warthog, I’m the Gunner and it starts moving to the side without the model changing its orientation making it look like a really weird drifting.

  2. Poor load times for checkpoints
eg. It does not like having to load checkpoints and the fact that it enters a loading screen to do it also feels annoying but it can also wait 3-4mins to load the checkpoint and then crash.

Things I enjoyed.

  • Coop
  • Grappling on Friends
  • I haven’t noticed the tether yet which is nice
  • The majority of cut scenes are skippable by anyone
  • Most issues didn’t affect the ability to play the game too much it only affected the enjoyability

Altogether a pretty positive flight so far.

Aye yeah I figure it out, but thank you regardless.

Hey, it works really well. Minor latency issues and a friend had a crash early on but generally? This is really nice and all of the intended systems work really well. That said, there was a notable glitch.

For whatever reason, hilarious as it is, Spartan Griffin like… T-poses like a mfer here. It’s honestly really funny but it’s also hugely immersion breaking.

Aside from that though, I’ve had a great time. My only gripe: I REALLY want to play as my own Spartan.

Beyond that, fun stuff, thank you.

Facial animations are still capped at 30FPS. Wew lad.

Occasional Desync and Rubberbanding,

The Sun would sometimes get super bright when playing didn’t have this problem with solo.

The Marine AI would only get in a vehicle if the host is in a vehicle they won’t bother with your co op partners

I was also having minor issues switching around my equipment it would pull up the equipment menu but wouldn’t let me select a different equipment piece

Was playing with 2 other player when we all would die the game always crashed for all of us we had to restart the games multiple times

Right now in coop, allied AI will only follow the host, preventing them from entering any vehicles that don’t have the host in them.

I feel like this could be tweaked so they either follow whichever player “recruited” them (walked close enough to trigger following) with the ability to “pass” recruited marines to another by having that player enter an even smaller radius of the marine. Or they will simply follow whichever player happens to be closest at the time. Or they prioritize following a player in a vehicle that has empty seats over the host so long as that vehicle is close enough to trigger entering.

Regarding the Ping suggestion, Halo 5’s Campaign had this as a central mechanic to the squad based gameplay of that campaign. Since infinite is going back to a more classic style of coop with Master Chief Clones, because everyone looks the same and you want to point out something on your HUD to your teammates, this feature absolutely needs to make a return to Halo Infinite’s Coop in the Campaign from Halo 5, which was a really good feature in that game. Obviously, you don’t need voice acting in game to point that out from your spartan (since Infinite’s campaign is a bigger emphasis on solo play), just some kind of ping to notify the other coop players because you on such a large map using “up” on the D-Pad on default (the flashlight should be moved to a different button I think) or can be remapped with the controller settings.

Personally I found the co-op menu too incomprehensible, I think a restyle of the entire menu would be better.
The options currently absent in the insider and that I would like to see implemented are:

  • Add the ability to select a specific primary mission before starting the game
  • Play an advanced mission even if one of your friends did not arrive at that specific point (I find it quite annoying not to have this freedom of choice)
  • Add a “Restart from Chekpoint” from the game menu.
  • Increase the maximum distance and receive a message much sooner that you are exceeding the limit zone (I was on a mongoose and I was running very fast, I exploded almost instantly)
  • Add collisions with allies (may sound silly as a thing, but I still remember the good times from previous Halo when we had fun jumping on our heads to try and do crazy things)
  • Campaign times (add the ability to view the times made during the mission)
  • Marines should drive vehicles !!!

So my only feedback after playing through the first mission, is I’d love to see even just the multiplayer skins make an appearance in Co-op, or at least an option to have them on or off, but also I seem to get audio that clips constantly

You don’t need to to fight over it, the other three players just need the tank gun from their own saves, simple. GeneralKid has a video on it

DarthSlappy5555 I will be on for the next hour

It seems that there is no matchmaking support and there really needs to be. I don’t like the idea of having to go to an lfg forum and then hope someone joins.

My gamertag is BINK007 im looking for 3 teamates to play with on Legendary. I would like to start at no later than 3:00 p.m. central time. ,but of course ill wait for a full team regardless of the time.Send message and let me know.

When the entire team dies, the game freezes during the loading screen. This seems to be more consistent when driving vehicles with Marines during the time of checkpoint.

by far the worst part of the flight thus far…but at least it saves progress.
