Campaign needs more work!

Hello 343 team

I need this message to be delivered to Joseph Staten. Watched the campaign: The reality is that this game needs more work.

  1. Vehicle explosions are dull and need to be more realistic or need to have more blast, smoke and effects.
  2. Hammer effects should be different depending in terrain if its metal , we should hear metal terrain effect, if its soil we should hear a different effect when it hits soil, same with sand.
  3. Grunts are too small in relation to the world, their shields look like they are not affected by illumination.
  4. When brutes fall down to the floor their eyes are still open. WTF guys.
  5. The forerunner camp tank that explodes needs more work, should be more animated.
  6. Hammer needs a horizontal swing attack ( this will provide a fresher combat expierence)
  7. Game needs more particle effects and probably a small amount of volumetric fog.
  8. Weapon shots should have effect on enemy armors and shields, the shotgun for example dont have any splinter effect on any surface.

GAME IS NOT READY GUYS!

As much as I agree they should fix these things, I don’t think it should cause a delay of the game. As long as the game runs well, has an amazing campaign and gameplay and is fun that’s all I want

I genuinely can’t tell whether this is sarcasm or not. I sincerely hope it is because I can’t imagine someone’s ego being so big they think their quick forum post needs to be directly delivered to Joe Staten.

Wow, any game that get’s released has minor problems, it’s nothing that can’t get fixed post release along with other minor bugs that may pop up.
So what if a brute falls over with his eyes open, iv’e seen pictures of real life soldiers that have been shot and there eyes are open when they fall over, maybe could take a bunch of grunts into a brute stronghold and find some sort of stretching rack, if someone could please recommend correct grunt stretching length.
There are ways of conveying any things that someone might feel that needs fixing, hardly think such a negative approach will get anywhere…

idk, I heard he gets every forum post delivered to him by mail.

OT: What bugged me in the campaign trailer was the Brute berserker who just bumped into chief without even hitting him or inflicting any sort of damage to chief’s shields.

You are a massive chunk of warrior meat with a running start but when you reach your enemy you don’t even take a swing at them nor does your mass push them back by a millimeter? You had all the sprint time to prepare and you got take out by a single smack on the jaw?

Please tell me this is only on Easy.

Edit: this is the moment I am talking about. https://youtu.be/XCbMVbeKlCg

All those things are such easy fixes tho not worth a delay

343i were using ‘cheats’ in the overview, seemingly unlimited health and super high damage modifiers. Common for trailers.

Ya see, OP…Posts like yours are the problem with the internet. Get a hold of yourself.
What do you even mean when you say “Watched the campaign”? Have you actually watched it from start to finish or are just rambling all this based off a 6 minute video?

A few of the points do have some merit, but the level of self-importance is so comical, I feel it has to be satire.

literally none of these actually matter

It’s probably on Normal or Easy as you said. It seems he basically died right when he got to the chief an that’s why he dropped but it does seem his body should have kept moving forward into the chief as it doesn’t appear he was slowing down. The Brute charge is a welcome addition it got me excited

No. The campaign looks fantastic compared to the 2020 reveal, and that’s good enough for me. Undoubtedly it’ll still get even more polish before launch though, since the campaign is still in development.

Sure, that’s fine but think about this - you are running towards an enemy. You will be within kissing distance in half a second - are you going to keep your hands down by your waist or maybe start swinging for a punch, maybe form fists? This brute did nothing but run so that chief could KO his butt.

**1. Vehicle explosions are dull and need to be more realistic or need to have more blast, smoke and effects.**100% agree with you. Also for multiplayer as well.
**2. Hammer effects should be different depending in terrain if its metal , we should hear metal terrain effect, if its soil we should hear a different effect when it hits soil, same with sand.**Honestly didn’t notice but good idea.
**3. Grunts are too small in relation to the world, their shields look like they are not affected by illumination.**No opinion yet on this one.
**4. When brutes fall down to the floor their eyes are still open. WTF guys.**Hey it happens sometimes. Maybe have their eyes roll in the back of their head or something
**5. The forerunner camp tank that explodes needs more work, should be more animated.**Agreed. Explosions look flat and cartoony, and they all look like gasoline fires. Not all explosions have a fireball.
**6. Hammer needs a horizontal swing attack ( this will provide a fresher combat expierence)**I like this idea, maybe its left trigger v right trigger. Would be really fun idea.
**7. Game needs more particle effects and probably a small amount of volumetric fog.**100%
**8. Weapon shots should have effect on enemy armors and shields, the shotgun for example dont have any splinter effect on any surface.**Didn’t notice but hey why not.

It strikes me as incredibly entitled to demand delays based on some explosions and a lack of fog of all things. This was already done once and 343i did us all a great service by directly addressing A LOT of the criticism over the last year, which could not have been easy. Next to troubled development, change in staff and leadership and the freaking pandemic we’re pretty lucky this game is releasing at all, so count your blessings and hope that the game is at least functional at launch.

> 1. Vehicle explosions are dull and need to be more realistic or need to have more blast, smoke and effects.

Vehicles have almost always just exploded with some fire or smoke effects before despawning after a bit, what more visual indicator do you need for a vehicle you’re literally unable to use anymore? They give a wind up whine to let you know they’re going to blow and then do so.

> 2. Hammer effects should be different depending in terrain if its metal , we should hear metal terrain effect, if its soil we should hear a different effect when it hits soil, same with sand.

Gonna be honest, I didn’t really pay too much attention because I can’t hear much over the loud boom of the swing anyway.

> 3. Grunts are too small in relation to the world, their shields look like they are not affected by illumination.

Grunts have always been kind of small, they stand at average human height. That’s like complaining Miranda Keyes was small standing next to Chief. As for the shields, what exactly are you talking about here?

> 4. When brutes fall down to the floor their eyes are still open. WTF guys.

That’s…kind of realistic though? People can die with their eyes open, as someone who has never died (obviously), I can’t really tell you from experience if it’s natural reflex to close your eyes. Maybe someone who specializes in caring for/understanding the dead can help you with that.

> 5. The forerunner camp tank that explodes needs more work, should be more animated.

Forerunner camp tank…are you talking about the Banished salvage sites?

> 6. Hammer needs a horizontal swing attack ( this will provide a fresher combat expierence)

I mean, we’ve seen it happen before, a Brute Chieftain did it in ODST, but it makes sense that a Brute can do it, they’re big and are considerably stronger. Mostly I think it’s the size rather than the strength, but I don’t think a Spartan could swing it horizontally, plus all the power is built into the vertical swing.

> 7. Game needs more particle effects and probably a small amount of volumetric fog.

Fog I can understand, but you have to be careful with overloading particle effects, I’d be worrying about my computer crashing on me if there’s too many particle effects. Especially if I was someone who didn’t have a strong PC build.

> 8. Weapon shots should have effect on enemy armors and shields, the shotgun for example dont have any splinter effect on any surface.

I don’t think that’s a feature we absolutely need, as nice and cool as it would seem, I’m beginning to suspect you might just be a troll?

… said the chief of QA after playtesting the game for 1000 hours.

Because he knows that if this wasn’t the case, his post would be a useless pile of subjective BS.
