Finding what can be a common weapon that isn’t a common drop was always unique and satisfying. Like the uncommon drops of sniper or shotgun.
But in Halo 5’s campaign, power weapons are mass spread all over the map! You could go to a gun armory and find a rocket, railgun, spartan laser, all together in one spot. As destructive as it was, it took away from the satisfaction of even just finding just a shotgun, in which, was made irrelevant by the amount of higher ordinances found in every mission. Finding a rocket launcher seemed more common than even finding a DMR. In a way, the Halo 5 campaign hit me like if its an arcade with the amount of weapons there were everywhere.
Halo Infinite needs to have less of that. Just the remind that the problem isn’t the weapons, its the varying of weapons around every mission. It shouldn’t be a needle in a haystack, just like the previous Halo games: Around but still easy to miss. Otherwise im back to backpacking a railgun for half the mission.
Honestly, don’t remember H5 campaign being too bad. Mostly the end had binary’s and incinerators everywhere
I think that is because H5 was so co-op focused, they had to place a lot of power weapons together to accommodate for 4 players playing simultaneously. You can also of course, order your teammates to pick up those weapons too.
Yeh maybe, though to be fair Halo 5’s campaign was oddly linear so power weapons were all over the place because there was no room to explore without dealing with awful kill boundary’s for barely flying away from certain area’s. So Infinite needs to find the right balancing and give players more freedom to explore like Halo 2 where players would find easter eggs outside the map or find the skulls or the Scarab gun instead of limiting it to a point where I felt like it was punishing players for going anywhere else because let’s be honest it’s gone too far when a Ghost can’t survive 2 inch’s of water before blowing up for reasons that make no sense.

Halo 2 had the best amount of exploration and secret weapons. Nothing is too crazy to find (like REQ weapons in Halo 5 campaign) but enough to satisfy your worth.
Even Halo 4 had a good amount. Like a Saw and Sniper at the start of Mission 2.

Yeh Halo 2 was great for exploring, loved finding easter eggs like the soccer ball on Metropolis.
I felt like Halo 4 was too linear too since it was too easy for Bansee’s to hit kill boundaries in often small contained area’s, which was frustrating.

It wasn’t bad, it was just, I guess, too good. Too many things in that campaign without much difficulty. Thats why they had the change difficult mid season.
The farther along the level is in the campaign, the more power weapons were readily available in the campaign. This has been true for every Halo since the first one. The library and on in CE had snipers and/ or rockets in every single weapon cache you come across almost.
I recall power weapons being near heavy vehicle sections. But I do agree with what you are saying about many weapons. Prior Halo games had limited weapons, where as Halo: 5 was well known to have entire lockers full of weapons. A tone back could be welcome, or a balance. A bump in ammo count could help with seeing so many weapons.
The great irony being that there are a fair few power weapons available but the ammo reserves are so pitiful that you can hardly enjoy using them(or anything) for any length of time. There is a large variety of weapons but none of them have enough ammo so you just end up defaulting to whatever is around. As other’s have said this is likely a consequence of the game being designed around co-op which I hope won’t be the case in Infinite.
That being said I don’t think there is anything wrong with being given regular access to power weapons, especially given how many there are now. CE let you run around with rockets and snipers for long stretches of time provided you are careful. I don’t think you should have to scrounge around or look for hiding places just to get some ammo or use a power weapon. Power weapons don’t have to be easy I win buttons that remove challenge, they are as important to the sandbox as any other weapon and don’t need to be held back in order to create a fun and challenging campaign.

It can be like that. But the third mission of Halo 5 “Meridian” the second you get to the defend the gate objective, you go tot he cashes and weapons are just everywhere. Even mission 2 on Argent moon had weapons laying out everywhere.

Yes, not too challenging but not in a bad way. The gameplay was good, but the story-telling was bad and character development lackluster.

We don’t need to play hide-n-seek with the weapons. And the ammo account wasn’t low unless it was a rocket or splaser. You just need to create more rare opportunities than just a free roam battle like some arcade game.

With a few exceptions ammo counts are some of the lowest of the entire series for weapons of all types. And I still don’t agree that power weapons need to be inherently need to be rare outside of Spartan laser tier weapons and even then once we find them we should be able to use them for more than just a single encounter. The game just needs to be paced well.
Again I think the problems with Halo 5 have more to do with the squad co-op focus(and spartan abilities but that is another can of worms) than just having a few power weapons thrown around considering how numerous and tanky the enemies are. If the game isn’t built around having 4 players at all times I think you will see a natural decrease in the frequency of power weapons.
