How do we still not have matchmaking for Campaign multiplayer? You do realize that not everybody has other friends on Xbox that play Halo, right?
You can always use that club feature on Xbox Live to find other people who want to do the campaign.
Unfortunately, that requires planning for specific times you’ll be available to play. Not something everyone can reliably do. With Matchmaking, you can just play with whoever’s available, right then. Bungie did it with Reach, in a way that worked fine. Hell, it still works. There’s no reason it can’t work for 5 and it would keep people interested in the Campaign, as well. They’ve got the same problem with the MCC and they’re even adding Reach in.
Edit: That’s not even mentioning people who don’t want their inbox spammed with notifications from the clubs.
If I remember correctly the reason H5 doesn’t have it is because 343 said it got bad reviews/complaints from Reach. Apparently a lot of players went in there just to troll and torment other players. Which is what more likely would happen in H5. It’s best to try and use the clubs and recruiting sections to find other players for campaign.
I’ve been looking around and this has, apparently, come up a lot over the years (earliest I found was 2015, I think). A lot of people want this feature back, so the “there were to many negative reviews” thing doesn’t really work. Besides, Reach’s campaign matchmaking still works, so it’s not like they shut it down over it. Also, like I pointed out, the clubs aren’t a good option, for everybody. For a lot of players, matchmaking would make the most sense (as well as the point I made about keeping interest in the campaign). It would also make better use of the “drop-in, drop-out” feature, with the AI that they made such a big deal about, during production.
