Any takers to how long you think this campaign will be, assuming you just follow the ‘Golden Path’ and don’t indulge into all the additional content?
Halo 3 and Halo CE are my top 2 campaigns, but Halo CE is my fav, and one reason (amongst many) is due to the length of the game, and the pacing, compared to other Halo games.
Personally I’d be happy if the ‘golden path’ on heroic clocked in at over 10 hours (12 hours would be perfect for me). I want a true story/campaign experience with this game.
Unless they artificially boost the length with fetch missions and side quests I don’t see it being super long.
I personally prefer the shorter arcadey feel missions, and the ones that take 40-60 minutes on your first playthrough feel almost chore like by the end sometimes.
The current campaigns on legendary (without any glitches and enough deaths lol) all clock in for around 10-15 hours for the experienced halo player. With the campaign direction of having a lot of side objectives I actually think that the golden path will be shorter then the current campaigns but it will be a magnificent experience nonetheless.
This all depends majorly as well on the new AI of the enemy. Currently heroic/legendary mainly means the enemy will deal more damage and takes more damage to take down, with the new info on the bots it could also mean that the intelligence increases with a higher difficulty. Which will effect the playtime on higher difficulties alot.
I do look forward to speed runners going to town on the new campaign. Really amazing what they find out on every mission and complete and entire campaign in the time I can complete a single mission on legendary lol.
Like OP said I hope the main Campaign is around 10-15 hours long cause I like longer Campaigns but what I really want to know is how fleshed out is the side content? Since this is the first Halo game to take on a fully open world experience, I would like to know what kind of side missions we’ll be getting as well as how much side content we’ll be getting.
I’d be pretty satisfied with 8-10 hours if you focused on the main story beats and ignored the side stuff. What I don’t want is a 5-6 hour experience with promises of dlc down the line. The launch campaign should be a complete story experience in and of itself.
I still remember a time in the 90’s when game reviews subtracted 10% off the final score for every hour that the game was shorter than ten hours.
(So if a game had a five-hour-campaign, the maximum score it would have been able to reach is a 50% score.)
Aaaah… good times.
I want a 10 hour campaign (Assuming you aren’t speed running, but are playing in a linear manner). However, if I elect to do all optional objectives, quests, collectables, that it should increase to 20 hours at least.
I do hope it is longer than a typical FPS singleplayer mode. If it were 8 hours for £50-60 i feel that would be bad value unless the campain is mindblowing in story and replayability. I am hoping for around 20 hours, Similar to The Last Of Us 2. I felt that had a good value for money. I also have games pass though so i wont be buying it anyway:)
I’m hoping it’s a bit longer than normal while being fleshed out with quality content. I’d love to see a 10 hour main line campaign with 16 to 18 hour’s total explore and do everything. This would be at heroic or legendary difficulty.
Expectation wise I have no idea but if they’re saying that environment is several times larger than the last 2 games combined I’d hope for a longer campaign in general.
A lot of variables to take into account here I guess. People who opt to just rush the story and get it over with might have it done super quick, while people who take their time exploring or finding easter eggs or liberating all the marines etc might have 3x ~ 10x the amount of time logged on their first playthrough.
I hope the ‘main campaign’ comparable to previous titles is at least 10+ hours long. I’d love for it to be a solid 20hrs like your typical open world game though.
This is kind of a pipe dream I guess, but I would want the campaign to be about as long as GTA 5’s if you were to power through the SP campaign without all the side stuff. All I just want at the end of the day is to just be immersed and submerged in the content.
