Campaign Legendary Help

Hey guys,

so I have completed three missions on legendary but it is so tedious. I get stuck in rooms forever. My AI team is less than useless. I basically have to do everything alone. But the rooms are so massive that it takes forever and then I get insta killed by some jackal sniper and, even if they are standing very close to me, my “team” is not able to revive me and I have to do the whole fight again.

I read somewhere that people tend to hang back and use long-distance weapons. That doesn’t seem to work too well for me. I do this a lot but when there are e.g. two turrets they focus entirely on me and I never manage to get enough shots off before they take me down, which, by the way, is pretty much instantly.

Any advice?

There’s a decent amount of power weapons throughout the campaign that you can find in hidden areas or rooms to the sides of the maps. The level that took me the longest was the Sanghelios level where there’s a tank sitting atop a hill.

Watch YouTube videos. That helped me improve a lot.

Def watch YouTube videos so u know beforehand where enemies are at, take out stuff that is in ur way instead of everything, sometimes it’s just quicker to sprint to next checkpoint & ignore what the AI tells u to do xD
Hardest room for my run was Enemy Lines where there’s snipers on the left along with a turret, wraith at the end in front of force field, gold elite running around, turret on the right. Would’ve been so much easier had I grabbed the Data Pad high above the room on the rock wall thing on a previous run, was like the last 1 I was missing, so had to do it on my Legendary run. Pretty much used almost all the ammo in the room & from corpses to clear out everything in order to grab the last Data Pad xD Had I gotten that last Data Pad on a previous run, the easiest way to deal w/the room if u already had all the collectibles was ignore most of the stuff, just sprint thru bottom, smash thru the broken wall under the temple & take the stairway shortcut that drops u behind the force field instead trying to take down the force field at the switch on the left beyond the left turret like the AI tells u to do.

Luckily, I already have all the collectibles. But I’m definitely going to watch some videos on how to get through the rough parts.

Is there a walkthrough with actual explanations? I mean, I beat the campaign on heroic already, so I kind of know what the deal is. But like I said, still need help with some bits.

I used the AI as distractions. Send them to area that will take the gun fire away from you. TrueAchievemts.com has a walk through with tips and vids that are very helpful.

Yeah, if you type in “Halo 5 Legendary Tips” in YouTube

Will definitely try that. Looked at a couple of videos already but nothing too helpful. Still stuck in the same room where I get insta-killed after ten minutes of trying to clear it. And whenever I die, my team dies, so it’s back to square one. Just rage-quit a moment ago because I was going to have a heart attack from frustration.

If you see me online, message me and I’ll play through with you.

Thanks for the tips. Only four more missions to go. But it is tedious as hell. Repeating some fights over and over again because I tend to get insta-killed at some point. Atm Battle of Sunaion - Warden taking me down with one hit while knights and soldiers are targeting me from all over the place, my team is dead, and the arbiter is doing his dance with some crawlers. That’s legendary.

I honestly don’t mind it being tough but it feels like 343s idea of legendary is just to spawn an absurd number of enemies that you have to deal with simultaneously while your good-for-nothing teammates are either dead or not helping - maybe creating a 3-second distraction before they die. Some classic fights - e.g. against Elites, Hunters etc. - still feel like Halo. Also using tactics against them feels a lot like Halo legendary. But the Warden fights and the Promethean fights in general suffer from what I described before.

It’s possible to go through the campaign alone. Even the 3-Warden fight wasn’t difficult, but I remember that I was once unlucky enough to run into a glitch with the ramp after beating them, which launched me out of the map so I had to start all over again. I think it helps if you get used to playing Heroic and then Legendary WZ Firefight.

Look up legendary speed runs for each level on youtube. It will change your life, I swear. There will still be a few places where things are difficult and you’ll have to fight your way through the old fashioned way (mostly because of some trick you can’t pull off without a lot of practice) but otherwise you will save an enormous amount of time. You can also skip the three warden fight very easily. That was a big one for me.

Use your AI squad as cannon fodder, find the power weapons people mentioned earlier, and don’t waste powerful ammo on weak targets, so don’t use Railguns and Rocket Launchers on grunts, jackals, and crawlers. Save the big guns for the real bullet sponges like elites, soldiers, hunters, and knights. Be sure to also watch plenty of YouTube videos and practice on heroic to really learn the levels.

But most importantly, have patience. If you get stuck on something, don’t get frustrated and start raging, as that severely hinders your performance.

Looked at something like that but man … they sort of jump on things that I can’t reach and find their ways through somewhat graphically glitched areas where I just fall down. I feel like trying to use these routes would take more time than actually beating the game the old-fashioned way.

Yeah, that last tip is easier said than done lol

AI squad as cannon fodder … well, generally a good idea but they tend to die so quickly that they do not even serve that function. Lately I pretty much ignored them and pretended like I was playing alone. Worked a lot better that way.

Yeah I don’t like the glitches either. But a lot of the routes they use and tips they give are very helpful

Take cover, order your team mates in a strategic way, whether it means bait or being with you. Stay as far as possible or in safety cover if you can. Always get them different weapons from their defaults, but it’s not a big deal… If there are sniper enemies, they are your priority.

The Suppressor is good. Smart scope and firing it takes down Soldier and Knight armor, follow up with a precision weapon, best one is either Carbine or Lightrifle. You’ll save ammo. Obviously a Binary Rifle or Incineration Cannon (always use the full charge) is the replacement to the Suppressor when possible. Also, those turrets Soldiers carry are very useful, but be ready to thrust to cover when you get shot.

Grenade the teleport points for Prometheans right before they warp in, Splinter grenades are the best for this. You’ll take down a lot of the armor and maybe kill some. Regular Knights are easy to one shot if you time it right, anytime you see their skull (whether you damaged the armor or the Knight is doing something), shoot the skull with a precision weapon.

Warden Eternal’s weakpoint is on the back…just use power weapons and your team to distract him instead.
