In my personal opinion, this is one of the best Halo campaigns. Easy. At first I was skeptical because the pacing felt off in the first 3 or 4 missions, but near the end the main plot became clear and it was done very well.
What are your personal thoughts?
Edit: Also, Osiris has grown on me quite a bit, especially Locke.
Its the best Halo Campaign I’ve played. Even if I didn’t like the story, which I love, there are soooo many great levels in this game that imo stop the blam out of past Halo games. And when you use the squad well it adds even more.
Personally I’ve loved every bit of it. Would have loved a few more Chief missions but that’s just my preference. I know the pro lore people don’t like it as much because they didn’t put a lot of emphasis on the background of the characters and other stuff. I hate cliffhangers but it makes me so intrigued for next Halo game now.
Well done 343 in making a game that i’m proud of playing as a mega Halo fan.
Remember Reach
I feel the same on the plot pacing, but still thoroughly enjoyed. Wish it was more of a hunt, though, as was advertised. Oh well.
I need more, 343i. Really gonna make us wait, huh?
I too was pleasantly surprised. Biggest criticism Ive been hearing is that you have to read the novels to truly appreciate it. It might be the case. I’ve read most of the Halo novels so it doesn’t bother me. I have not read the forerunner series though and I hear it explains some stuff from the story.
At first I was worried about the campaign and agreed with some of the complaints at first. But boy did I change my mind during the 2nd half of the game. I get the feeling a lot of the people that hate the plot aren’t too familiar with the lore beyond the games.
The game made a lot of sense if you really know your Forerunner lore, and know quite a bit about the outside universe.

I agree. The campaign is definitely worth a second (even a third) playthrough to truly understand and appreciate the direction 343i is taking the story. From what people are saying about the cliffhanger they did here and in Halo 2, it’s getting everyone talking about it. That’s a good thing for Halo fans everywhere because we’re already looking forward to the next Halo game.
I’m definitely pumped for the next installment, but thankfully I can appreciate the game I have right now.
Loving the campaign. I am a bit upset we don’t get much levels as Blue Team. I saw the announcement that they would be in the game and I was really excited to play a campaign as Chief and Blue Team, but it’s not really a deal breaker. I’m just happy I got to play as Blue Team and Chief, just would have liked it to last a bit longer.
I personally think the story itself revolves around Chief and Locke as separate characters. Lines like Locke uses in the cutscene where he introduces the armor lockup thing (I forgot the name don’t judge please), he says “Your not the only one here because of him.” perhaps showing that Locke has something personal with Chief (I know it’s his job to hunt him down, and he was called for it, but just saying “Your not the only one here because of him” just plainly meaning he is not the only one who got into Osiris to hunt Chief can’t be right).
I am really liking Osiris also. If you’ve watched Nightfall, you know Locke’s story. If you read Halo Escalations, you know Tanaka’s story. If you played ODST, you know Buck’s story. Honestly the only member I don’t know much about is Vale. They got some funny lines in there like “Can’t get anything for a buck”, but overall I’m liking Osris.
Only real complaint about the campaign is mission lengths. They feel a bit short to me, even when I take time to look around and try to find data points. Overall though, I’m loving the campaign right now.
