Campaign inside infinite

We know the studio is in shutdown mode polishing the game and squashing the bugs, so this is the perfect time to start looking into campaign. Joseph Staten has said the campaign is complete and he has been through it many times already.

So wouldn’t now be a good time to start dropping information (*No spoilers) about what we can expect when we play the campaign.

343i have been incredibly transparent with multiplayer but with campaign, apart from the disastrous campaign showing last year we’ve heard nothing other than its finished. It’s time 343i started to pull back the curtain and let the fans know a little bit more of what to expect.

As much as I appreciate what information is being given in inside infinite it’s starting to feel like a marketing tool for multiplayer than a community update about the whole game.

The stuff staten has said gives me an impression it’ll be a short campaign, I’ll say that much. I hope it’ll be longer than what I’m expecting it to be.

That’s because the money is in the multiplayer, not the campaign.
Still have my fingers crossed for a good campaign. But the writing is on the wall, that this is all about the Multiplayer. Which don’t get me wrong, I think it’ll be great.
But I’m certainly not holding my breath for a super indepth campaign.

i much prefer shorter campaign than a game filled with unnecessary cinematic and gameplay moment that doesn’t serves anything. and of course infinite it’s just a beginning and we can expect yearly story dlc…
by the way short campaign that i’m referring to is 7 8 hours not 5 hours because that’s unacceptable.

You can’t blame 343 for being a bit gun shy after the H5 debacle… keep the powder in the keg.

I dont think so. Campaign has probably been done for probably a year now…since they redid the graphics over the last year, I am sure it was just a matter of fixing bugs and playing through multiple times to ensure everything is air tight.

I kinda prefer not knowing much about the game. I would however, like to see the original E3 demo but on the latest build with the graphical bugs gone and textures updated. I believe that would ease many players minds!

This would definitely be a pretty good idea.

I would like to see a side by side comparison, but I can’t see that happening.

I think this has a lot to do with it. Also, with the game having side objectives and areas to explore, it means that people who just ignore that stuff can beat the game pretty quick, and for that reason I think they are hesitant to say how long the campaign truly is. I know I personally will explore every inch of the map, but I can’t say the same for others.

I’m a little dubious in the direction the campaign is leading… I’m thinking they’re not showing much because it will leave more questions unanswered. It’s the whole Live Service debacle that makes me quite suspect. Too much interpretation going on in my my mind.

I also don’t understand why Joseph Staten flew down to Los Angelas when he could have saved his emissions. After all he only gave us a date and a video. I hope Gamescom was just a secondary objective.

There are big expectations for the campaign, especially as thats what the money is being spent on.
Hopefully its several hours long doing main missions but any side pieces, i.e skull collecting and if the marine saving is hopefully side mission based it could lead to a great experience with much needed dlc!

I agree. I never understood the appeal of an open world Halo game, I’d much prefer a standard 8-12 hour campaign with more open level design (rather than a fully open world with a map and repetitive side activities) and a focus on the story.

As is, though, an 8 hour campaign couldn’t possibly justify the 60$ price tag given that the multiplayer is free and a few features are missing. Unless there is a whole nother mode included alongside the campaign that 343i hasn’t revealed yet (ie Firefight with working coop) or multiple battle passes included with the purchase, the Campaign will have to target both quality and quantity otherwise it won’t be worth the full price.

Sadly, I doubt they will manage to get both quality and quantity and I doubt that there are any additional modes or BP offers included in the 60$ package (if there are, why haven’t they been announced already?) which is why I probably won’t be paying for it.

What I’m worried about is that the side activities will be repetitive chores rather than unique side content like a Ubisoft game. I’m hoping for some proper side missions with their own storylines but I feel like it’ll mostly be clearing out the same Banished base half a hundred times

There seems to be a lot of rumors of a short campaign and I’m not understanding the source of them.

yes, that was my biggest problem with gears 5 which using term "open world game’ for advertisement and marketing and in reality doesn’t even come close to standard of classic open world games yet the modern one. gears 5 is the best example of linear 7km5km map with meaningless fetch quest that doesn’t have any purpose or effect in story neither in character development or world building.

the good thing about halo infinite is the world filled with enemies and random encounters as it should be. also later they can add more wild life or side quests or expand the zeta halo to be more diverse and bring more meaningful quest like escorting m313 elephant to unsc base and having epic battle in between.
halo open world have tons and tons of potential if it’s done right, it would bring the great intimate moment that never seen before. like imagine finding a noble 6 helmet type of scenario that included with short cutscenes with story telling of halo odst.
or master chief sits under a tree for a brief moment and have conversation with weapon cortana and tell her about great journey he had so far and it serves as a reminder for player that 20 years was spectacular experience.

Im still trying to wrap my head around how skulls will work in a semi open world in halo infinite. Imagine trying to play the game with the famine skull on or even trying to play LASO. They might just have skulls as collectables and they won’t impact gameplay because of the scale of the open world experience. This would be a sad thing to lose out on LASO or even par time/score playthroughs. Ive had so much fun doing these in the MCC and its what makes halo, Halo! People play the campaign again and again with these added skulls or par/score so it makes every play different and fun to experience. I kinda hope there will be linear missions in the semi open world. Kinda like you unlock a mission in a area of the map, the stage would be linear and when you complete the level it will open up the rest of the map, like a new area and so on until the map is complete and then hopefully like classic halo ce some back tracking to the start. If thats the case with my idea of linear missions inside the semi open world it could work with Halo’s classic skulls, par/time. Then once you completed the campaign story you can have the options to play through the missions one after the other like all previous halo games without the open world part for play throughs for skulls, par time, par score and most importantly challenges for XP in campaign to rank up in the Battle pass. Hopefully my idea makes sense. Im still trying to wrap my head around how the game will play and will it have the classic gameplay as previous halo’s LASO, PAR/TIME playthroughs!

Hopefully we can get a look at some gameplay soon. Nothing with spoilers maybe just a small side quest maybe like 8 mins long even.

Not when the campaign is 60 dollars and multiplayer is free

I was hoping by now that we would have got more info on campaign because all we have been told is about the stuff that has been cut and for him to say he has been through the game several times is making me believe is pretty short.
