Halo 5: Guardian’s campaign is shaping up to be the best Halo campaign ever, and potentially the best FPS campaign released, so far, on the Xbox one. Personally I’ve always loved the large vehicular assault missions that have been prevalent throughout the series. Two missions that come to mind are The Ark & The Covenant from Halo 3. I always loved the sequence of the Ark where you and a bunch of scorpions storm down a hill to get to the cartographer. So, I’m very excited to see what kind of large scale battles will be in Halo 5. Anyways, I wanted to ask what everyone’s favorite aspect of campaign is (i.e. sniper missions, CQC missions, exploring the environment, etc.) and I wanted to discuss large scale battles more. Specifically, how do you think they will work. For instance, in Halo 3, Chief, was taking part in a ‘Final Effort’ push to stop the Covenant and was still supported by the UNSC. Whereas in Halo 5 he is seen as a rouge operative, where he won’t have support from the UNSC & Osiris is a kind of Special Operations team that is not usually going to have a large force directly supporting them. Personally, I think that large scale battles will happen in 3 sided engagements, where Blue Team, or Osiris (if you’re playing as them) will have the option to let the other 2 sides (e.g. Covenant, Promethean) duke it out, and pick off the weakened survivors, or you will be able to selectively engage targets and slip around major engagements. So I was wondering what other waypoint members thought about how Halo 5 will handle large scale battles. So please feel free to fire away, any speculation, thoughts, and opinions are more than welcome.
Well, we know that Osiris is gonna be fighting alongside the arbiter and his elites in game (it was seen in a screenshot awhile ago). Also, I’m quite interested to see if chief will have promethean allies at any point, as him and the warden seem to be working together. That would be a great twist. As for your other question, I usually prefer the loud, bombastic halo missions with tons of explosions and vehicles and epic music. Now, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like slower paced missions like the Truth and Reconciliation or Nightfall. But when I think of my favorite halo missions, I often think of things like the warthog run at the end of halo 3 or the scorpion charge in The Ark. However, CQC missions look like they’re gonna be a lot more fun in Halo 5 with the squad commands.
My favourite Mission always where in Vehicles, so basically the final ones
The Warthog Run in Halo CE, Halo 3 Run and in Halo 4 i even got two
(Ghost Run and Broadsword Run) I hope we have a mission like that again in Halo 5.
I also look forward to Blue Team as well as the return of Vadam I missed him so much in Halo 4.
I just realized that because chief doesn’t have UNSC support, he isn’t going to get his vehicles or his ammunition. So all the tank/mantis missions will be on the Lock side of the campaign.

Not necessarily. He’s gonna be visiting a few UNSC colonies, so there could easily be stuff there he could scavenge

This is a good point, but I think we will be seeing Chief as a more Guerrilla type fighter than ever before. I’m interested to see how Blue Team is going to handle things given they’re AWOL status.

Chief teaming up with Prometheans, that would be interesting. I could see that being used by ONI to “prove” that Chief is a traitor.

Can’t beat those vehicle missions. They’re my favorites too. I was hoping we would get some sweet aerial battles in Halo 5.
