Campaign, Honestly, WOW Worth a buy if you haven't already

In terms of campaign I would have to rank it 5th behind Halo CE through Reach. It’s a major step up from Halo 4 or 5, but it’s definitely not on the par of map design, variation and story that Bungie set with those games. It does, however, feel like a worthy successor. I personally don’t know if it’s worth the full $60 as it is now since it’s literally just a single player campaign with no other features, but assuming that 343 does a good job of integrating things like co-op and additional content that adds some variety in a timely fashion, it has very solid potential.

I would rank the campaigns so far as follows (Not ranking Infinite’s story because I have not finished it, so far its definitely top 3)

Halo CE - The Flood, and the final sequence of the Maw. I must of replayed the Maw 20-30 times over the years. And the Legendary Ending made me laugh.

Halo 3 - great campaign, felt a little bit like the final sequence was trying a bit hard to be like the Maw but I can forgive it.

Halo 2 - great campaign and so much combat variety and the arbiter but got bogged down by several very gimicky boss fights and a cliffhanger ending.

Edit: Forgot Reach! Not sure where I’d put it in comparison with the other two, probably ahead of 2 because the story and characters are really tightly written and the ending is tragic.

Halo 4 - enjoyed the story and gameplay well enough, but promethean knights made me want to give up gaming and become Amish.

Halo ODST - I just couldn’t get into it enough to finish it. The mission hub parts kind of annoyed me to be honest, might have been just life circumstances at the time I could’t engage.

Halo 5 - Spartan Locke was forgettable and annoyed me, fighting Warden Eternal does not get more enjoyable when you have to fight 3 of them at once for the 5th time, and promethean knights again made me want to give up gaming.

i have hopes for this too…

but i will say, for campaign the map design is open world, designed to be explored, unlike other halo games, they were not designed with scale + freedom of this size in mind, i like your point, but i think your not being open minded about the fact its designed as an open world, with room to evolve, rather than a guided path made to look exploreable + if you think about it, we’ve only been in one area of the ring, their loads of segments they could add/repair/fly us too. O.O im sure that is how they will update us with new content or change current areas too.

(edit (ADD) this is not to annoy you or to challenge your open mindedness bud, realized i might of seemed rude my with text style,)

The stories alone though was what j was talking about.

Disagree…I dunno if I’d buy it for 60. Maybe half that. It’s good, but it gets repetitive quite quickly as it follows the exact formulas of every tired open world game. Im burnt out over open world games. I’m enjoying the story and the adventure tho…

as stands i agree, its a little exspencive for what it gives, but im willing to look past it, if they continue to the story in this manner.

It is for me. Infinite is somewhere around 6th place overall IMO

I haven’t finished it, but I am looking forward to something more in the future or dlc with varied environment. Maybe a volcano area and desert? It’s just a shame that we’re always waiting. I feel like the environment should’ve def been varied.

work fine on series s

Literally in my top 3 AND i am not even finish

Runs well on Xbone so far. Spent a few hours messing around in the open world near “The Tower” mission, enjoying the game play.

This really is just space Far Cry though, after I get tired of wandering about I will just focus on the story and try for as much of a focused playthrough as I can.
I don’t read any of the lore and haven’t played halo wars, so I feel a bit lost as to the current world state, granted it’s not that hard to figure out.

The only thing I am bummed about is not being able to replay missions yet, I have been finding myself checking for guides so I don’t need to play again just to collect skulls.

I am concerned about long term replay ability, I don’t see this format really standing the test of time like CE,2 and 3 do. I still play through those games at least once a year and still discover new things

$60 dollars to play all of the same crappy side-missions and base assaults in a new biome? No thanks.

I’m having a blast so far!
