I’m having trouble at the end of the final mission when you fight three Wardens. So far I’ve managed to destroy two of the three, but once the turrets spawn I get obliterated again and again. I’ve been stuck on this checkpoint for over two hours. Up until the final mission I had only died three times. Now my death count is well over 30. I haven’t been this stuck since my first Halo 2 solo.
Here is a 5 minute video of my recent attempts. It should give you an idea of what I am up against. It is on legendary difficulty. After recording this clip I managed to hit the warden with two incineration cannons plus a third. 215% worth of incineration cannon blasts and he just hit me with his death ray and mocked me.
I’m open to ideas. For those of you who’ve beat the campaign on legendary solo, what was your strategy for this area?
WARNING! Rant Below:
Shame on you, 343 Industries, for creating a squad-oriented campaign then giving us moronic AI for teammates. I won’t say much more as I am sure you’re already well aware. I expect better next time. Also, fighting the same guy over and over again really takes away from the experience. Was this really the best you could do?Edit:
My bad, it’s not the final mission. Mission 14.

That just goes to show how little effort was put into this mission.

I personally did it the legitimate way as I didn’t even know this was a thing before completing it, but the fact that people were actually looking for ways just to skip this boss fight rather then face it just shows how un imaginative and blant the campaign itself was. After the 6th time fighting the warden, I too would’ve used this route as there was no feeling of accomplishment vanquishing him for the 7th, 8th, and 9th time.
I find that mission quite easy with the warden just a scattershot to his back and use the walls as cover and team mates as meat shields

I tip my hat to you sir, if you used that tactic on legendary. By meat shield I guess you mean one hit wonders, hardly call the AI meat shields, more of a distraction to pop a few shots into the warden.

I’ve decided to go with this method. I got a really bad checkpoint and I don’t feel like starting the mission over again. This area wasn’t very well done. The game shouldn’t go from moderately difficult for 13 missions, to nearly impossible, then back to moderately difficult. They should have play-tested it on higher difficulties more.

My squad mates just stand there being useless even when I order them around so they don’t last more than a few seconds. After that it’s nearly impossible to stay alive if the turrets are still up. If I stop to shoot the turrets the Warden gets me, if I stop to shoot the Warden the turrets get me.

My thought process exactly, I thought they didn’t even playtest 80% of the levels. I wondered who in the play test team played the campaign and was like ‘Wow! Another warden fight, already killed 4 of you, I hope I get to fight more of you throughout the game!’ The campaign itself wasn’t… terrible, felt like 90% multiplayer, 10% campaign on an effort scale.
I feel for you bro, the grind for legendary campaign is real. Don’t worry, once you complete it, you get a really rare special reward which is the badge of legendary on your service record! Excitement overload

I think the story is there even if it wasn’t done perfectly. The graphics and audio are incredible, and the gameplay is solid in terms of first-person-shooter elements, but the level design… good gawd. So repetitive. I’ve made it this far, might as well finish it.

Yeah everything implemented into the game itself is, well… awesome! But, exactly as you explained it, the campaign itself, wasn’t as enjoyable as hoped. Just felt like I was forcing myself to play it rather then enjoying it for what it was.
I completed the campaign first time on legendary and solo, no guide or exploits, I don’t think it is that hard. And I even felt like AI helped quite a lot with them having infinite ammo!
Give the team power weapons (preferably sniper rifles) and go very slowly.
For the 3-Warden fight… SIMPLY SKIP IT, MAN. Use the right man-cannon and then ground pound to the platform! The right one is way easier than the left one.

I equipped my squad with incineration cannons and binary rifles, but oddly enough they just stand there and hardly ever shoot. Even when I command them to attack the Warden. Thanks for reply, though. I decided to just skip the 3 warden fight.
I hung around the back area of the room and told team mates to attack turrets. They died. I just managed to kill him with suppressors somehow while dodging the turret shots. The fight is a pain. FYI you can charge the incineration cannon by holding down the trigger. It does more damage that way.
