Campaign Has No Replay-ability

I did finish my initial play-through the day of release and just now I thought I might go through it once more to get ‘Enemy Commendations’.

However… there are no campaign commendations. I mean, unless you want Achievements (which some people do, of course) but I could care less about my GS.

Instead, the only reason one might play through is to find the SAME skulls we’ve had since Halo 3 (and some in Halo 2), and audio logs.

Can 343 add incentives, if so, here are my suggestions:

  • Add Campaign Commendations, which reward the player with either Req Points, Experience Points, or Req Packs.
  • Add a well-written story (one can dream…)
  • Add Weekly or Daily Challenges like Reach did to reward players in the campaign
  • Campaign scoring (why was this -Yoinking!- removed in the first place?)
  • Couch co-op (again, one can dream…)
  • Honestly the main thing to add would be my first point, while I do love playing multiplayer, there is a certain ‘grind’ aspect, which keeps me playing more than I probably would. This should be added to campaign, because without it, one or two play-through’s is more than enough.

Ageed, I have no reason to go back into the campaign. I always loved going for par times and scores, so having none in Halo 5 is kind of a bummer.

Commendations, Dailies, Time/Scoring would be fantastic.

too much intel, if they had terminals I would have been happy, maybe to fix some plot holes from hunt the truth. and while we are at it, lets get chips dubbo and stacker to make a comeback with 6

Current replay value

  • Intel hunting - Skull Hunting - Unique dialogue hunting - Easter egg hunting - Different difficulty’s - Achievements - Environment sight seeing - Speed running

Without campaign theather ans scoreing its replay value did drop but there are still reasons to go back.

I’m pretty sure you don’t get enemy commendation completion from the campaign. The enemy counts for them are fairly low and none of mine have gone up from the campaign. Warzone is the only way to get them. As for replay-ability, you’re right, there is none. All there is to do is beat it on various difficulties and collect a ridiculous amount of intel(do we really need 117 of them to collect? I expect Halo 6 to have 343 of them if you want to make as hunt) and a normal amount of skulls. I hope Halo 6 does the campaign better both in terms of story and whether or not it’s even worth replaying.

Personally, Halo 3’s and Halo 5’s Campaigns have the highest replayability for me. The other Halo’s might have better storylines, but I enjoyed playing Halo 5’s Campaign more than I did, say, Halo 2. But that’s just my opinion.

Great stuff OP! I agree. Halo 5 could’ve been one of the best Halo titles yet if 343i just paid more attention to the campaign.

I’m a little heartbroken to be honest. This is the first time in 15 years I actively avoid spending time with the campaign. Why? In my opinion it just flat out SUCKS!

Really? Halo 2’s campaign is my second favorite. The first mission Cario Station just automatically sets the tone for an epic an action packed game. With Halo 5, you have the opening cinematic (which was okay for me initially, but now that I look back. It’s cheesy and over the top). But the gameplay took an immediate nosedive after that initial cutscene.

I replay the campaign all the time. I don’t need incentives in order to go through the campaign. Well I guess unlike most people, I enjoyed going through the campaign.

"If you won’t reply ability go play the old halos " I can imagine someone saying that But I prefer halo 3

The only reason I would replay the campaign are daily/weekly/monthly challenges and completing them would give you some req points.
But I can see why 343i didn’t added this feature so people buy more req packs with real money.

It’s kinda amazing how much “incentive” gamers need to play games. I see this we get nothing for this or that… I wonder what the new gen gamers would have done back in the day when there was no such thing as achievements, gamer score or any thing. Know what you got for beating a game… to see the credits… that being said I wouldn’t mind seeing some “challenges” for req points at least. But also the only mission I really enjoyed or that stood out to me to replay was the swords of Sanghelios mission.

This campaing is so forgettable. Every other Halo campaing had memorable and epic moments: first food encounter on CE, playing as the arbiter in 2, all of halo 3, -Yoink- being an odst in the streets of new mombasa left a bigger impression on me than this campaing.

Really hope halo 6 has the best campaing ever, because I really miss halo delivering in that front.

Really has nothing to do with that. We had features in previous installments that allowed the campaign to be played time and time again. Said features (like campaign scoring and campaign theater) were removed.

And why? Why is a basic numbering system removed completely from the franchise with no explanation whatsoever?

Players have a right to be angry about that. We all played the first time through for the story, but now there is almost nothing for the player to do upon return.

No it really doesn’t. Normally when I get a new halo I speed run on easy just to get the story out of the way then come back and do it on various difficulty settings and find eggs skulls and blah blah. All I did this time was the speed run and lost interest before it was over really

Well the story was hot garbage so I don’t blame you lol.

It’s not just YOUR opinion. Mine too and a heck of a lot of others. 343 does whatever they can to strip away anything Bungie has done for Halo, simply for the sake of saying halo is theirs. Halo 5 simply isn’t Halo anymore. Anyone who might say otherwise is obviously unfamiliar with all the previous Halo installments, well, at least the ones Bungie created.

That’s all that needs to be said. I too lost interest with the story and the characters less than 50% through. That means ZERO replayability.

Welcome to every halo campaign ever
