I think both halo 4 and 5 really lacked in the gameplay department and I really want them to succeed with infinite. What are some clear additions/ changes/fixes that you think could be made for Halo Infinite?
Take out sprint, spartan charge, ground pound, and zoom with automatic/close range weapons and I’m good.
Make guns fun to use, don’t focus too much on he looks of the guns and that was Halo 5 which focused too much on looks. Yeah remove enhanced mobility.
I’d like them to get rid of all the unnecessary chatter. Seems like about half the lines in H5 are either filler or forced secondary stories without any detail. That said, I think Exuberant’s lines were pretty spot on for her character.
Not exactly gameplay since dialog doesn’t require any player input, but I find the dialog to be an important part of the campaign experience.
*More interesting weapon designs beyond boring faction reskins of existing weapons. On a related note, remove smart scope as a universal feature, the ability to scope is too important a design tool to just throw onto absolutely everything. It only serves to make all weapons feel less unique.
*More ammo for the Player, preferably a CE level of ammo. People will often complain about how bullet sponegy the Prometheans are but rarely pay attention to the paltry amount of ammo you can carry in 343 era games.
*Fewer lock-on and tracking weapons. It is not fun to fight tracking weapons en mass like you do in Halo 5. Likewise the heavy weapon double tap used by Hunters and Incinerator cannon Knights is incredibly obnoxious. The Hunter melee attack speed ruins any close range combat options.
*Go back to the Halo 2/3 era vehicle system. The chip damage system from Reach onward turns vehicle combat into a timed battle of attrition.
*No ‘Bosses’ ala Halo 2, Warden, or Halo 5 firefight. Boss encounters ala Scarabs are one thing as they don’t just involve dumping rounds into a single spongy target. Same goes for Firefight enemies. Goblins would be an interesting addition if they weren’t designed around fighting teams of players and were just treated like another part of the vehicle sandbox. Halo is at its best when you are fighting diverse groups of enemies requiring different tactics to defeat.
I would like to feel more unique weapons. Halo 5 was a step up from re-skinned halo 4 weapons. But not quite there yet. I think changing the bolt shot would be a vital thing. Also some Promethean vehicles. The phaeton felt unique. So did the light rifle. I want better dialogue in campaign . Halo 5 had the worst dialogue and kind of killed the inbetween parts of the campaign
For on-foot gameplay I would be fine with increased base speed with removed sprint animation, ground pound + spartan charge should also go.
Smartscope should be removed with return to the old zoom type with weapons that make sense to have an actual zoom-in.
I dont think thrusters or clamber fit in but they aren’t worst of the additions on gameplay either.
Remove bullet magnetism and scale down the hitboxes to better represent the actual models, currently the head hitboxes especially are huge.
Not including sprint or other infamous examples, you know at least one, some form of equipment could return, the rechargeability could depend on type of equipment in campaign at least.
Even though forerunner based weapons are supposed to be technologically more advanced, other factions weapons could be put on similar line for gameplays sake, though at some point I would prefer the removal of promethean weapons, for now plasma should stay as shield destroyer, UNSC weapons could deal extra on HP & promethean weapons would be a bit weaker all-rounders or boost against armor including vehicles.
Grenade/rocket jumps should be made possible again, much more interesting than clamber & it comes with it’s own risks & rewards.
There’s a few things about the player character mechanics.
They should keep Sprint and clamber but eliminate Spartan charge and ground pound.
In my opinion, I would like to keep ALL movement mechanics that are already added to the game and focus on more positive growth. The campaign should be a valuable asset when finished knowing that when you step in multiplayer you know you have learned something.
Regardless of spoilers, we should be able to find rewards. A reward-based mechanic that is useable and significantly important terms of status should be shown, in multiplayer.
Reactments to performance-based gameplay, regardless of difficulty. Halo is the best fps si-fi shooter…
Master-cheif should get a power-up at the end. Promethean Vision?
Maybe retool some of the movement mechanics and some throwback weapons.
MA37(which we at least saw in the trailer) I’d like to see both the BR55 and BR85N, like we did in H5,I’d like to see more of the original Plasma Rifle.
As far as movement, I feel the way sprint was integrated into your shield recharge was good for balancing. And I do wish sprint, clamber , and thrusters would return, but maybe with certain limitations. Maybe sprint would have a burst effect-really quick, but over time your character would slow down abit. I also like the slide mechanic cuz it allows for an additional ability to engage firefights or keep enemies guessing.
But if they remove abilities, they need to up the base movement speed by a factor of 50%. At least.
Focus should return to Master Chief. That was my biggest complaint with the Halo 5 campaign.
I want them to remove spartan abilities, only keep hover (with toggle option) and thrusters (they should not recharge faster that Halo 4), slightly increase base movement speed and I’m undecided on Clamber.

Exuberant was a breath of fresh air and I would like more of that in Halo Infinite, she gets my vote any day, an interesting, funny and suitable character.
Show gunner health/shield state for warthog driver (c.f. CE)
Ability to spawn on other players (armour mod?).

I remember that. I was simply stating what my biggest complaint was. I understand why the focus was on Locke but given all the hype around the Master Chief going AWOL, I was expecting much, much more.
