Campaign for respect

Hey guys! As some of you may know from meeting me on B.net I am very random, fun loving, etc. I love playing online with anyone really, but when it comes to respect for us girl gamers… Sometimes it seems that we don’t get enough. I respect peoples opions and all but coments like “Get back 2 the kitchen” and such are just plain annoying and discriminating to us. Not to mention sexist… Girl gamers are here to stay, and I’m proud to be one of them! Also, I"ve got some allright screenshots in my File Share on B.net, so plz check them out if you have time. Thanks! Please post your opinion as long as it is appropriate. Thanks everyone!

Respect for girl gamers! Respekt für Mädchen Gamer!

Like a boss

I may not be a girl, but I absolutely 100% support this!

It’s sickening when I hear sexist remarks like “Get back to the kitchen!” or “Hey, make me a sammich!” to girl gamers. Gives guys a bad rep!

Totally! I agree with you there. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or a guy, being respectful to others is the key thing in your life to making friends and gaining respect yourself. Not just girls can join this campaign, guys too. Anyone who shares respect for us is a truly good guy.

It is really annoying to hear what some males players say to female players (and sometimes just downright disturbing). I really don’t understand where it comes from… Anyways, I play video games to have a good time and play with friends and some of the comments some guys make to girls is just wrong and not good for a fun-filled atmosphere.

In my eyes we are all playing this game, doesnt matter who you are as long as you are playing halo!

If you are being subjected to crude over the mic chatter, you have options OP, muting, making friends here on waypoint and playing with them.
Sure there are other options, but i wont insult your intelligence. Infact, if you enjoy firefight, i am always looking for players.

What are we discussing here?

> What are we discussing here?

Kitchens and sandwiches apparently.

I give respect to those who give it in return, regardless of gender. This means that when I’m playing and someone starts harassing myself or my friends, I harass them right back in their defense. However, this also means if a female gamer is causing problems, I’ll disrespect her as much as she disrespected myself or others. Gender doesn’t matter to me, you gotta earn respect by reciprocating it.

Yeah.

My best friend had a friend on XBL, she was a lot of fun to play Halo with, but so many people harassed her all the time that she quit XBL. I hate it when that happens! Some people online are just sick, but HaloWaypoint is a great place to make friends who are respectful.

Gamers are gamers no matter what gender. Long live Halo and girl gamers.

This, so much this. If you’re a gamer, you’re a gamer, regardless of your gender.

Totally. That is very understandable. It’s like what the first poster to this topic said, except for the oppossite gender. Rofl. Respect for everyone! High five guys and girls!

Thanks for all your support so far everyone. It makes me feel happy that there are so many great people out there who have respect for others, no matter what gender they are!

The people on Xbox Live are one of the main reasons I play offline. The sexism is ridiculous, the racism even more so, not to mention the homophobia. It’s disgraceful.

Seriously though, what is the discussion here? Unless you call a bunch of white knights a discussion.

> Seriously though, what is the discussion here? Unless you call a bunch of white knights a discussion.

The discussion is about the attitudes of people playing online, it’s about the maturity (or lack thereof) of Halo players. If you don’t like the topic, don’t post in it.

i recognize your name from screenshots, so i guess your message is receiving attention there

I completely respect Girl gamers and treat women equally in any scenario,I’ve even been to a feminist rally in support of my best friend who as you may of guessed is a feminist. Girls are a huge target for abuse on Xbox but the main people who call this out are little 12 year olds who think being racist and sexist is cool or whatever-I blame the schools.

Anyway, I’d be happy to play with you anytime if you want to send me a FR

I get what this thread is saying, yet I think it goes about it in entirely the wrong way. First off, why are we segregating gamers based on gender? All that implies is that girls who play videogames are different. They aren’t and labels never solve the problem. Second off, the reaction to the comments such as “Get back to the kitchen” are exactly what the taunters want, a negative reaction. They giggle with glee when you react offended to what they said and they love threads like this even more so they can get a cheap laugh some more as a result of their insults. You really want to get under their skin? Laugh at their insults. If you can show that, frankly, the taunts from some random nobody over Xbox Live don’t matter and you move on quickly, they have nothing left to attack you with.

My two cents.

Apollo Creed! Nice to see you here! Say hello to one of the masters of screenshots everybody! Rofl, thanks for commenting Sir! I have recently made a screenshot related to this topic, but not many people have viewed it so far. Mostly just a couple of friends I recommended it to.
