Campaign fall damage

For the love of Halo if you going to have fall damage don’t put it in campaign and have it optional in MP. Death barriers are one thing they stop you from going to areas you wont be able to get out of but all fall damage does is slow down gameplay, make a map harder to navigate, and frustrate you. It doesn’t even make since being in it you fell from hundreds of feet in halo 3 and Master Chief survived not to mention there was know fall damage in that game. It also makes Spartans look weak. In mp you should make a fall damage meter so the higher it is the more damage you take from falling and the lower it is the less damage you take. It would make it so you could die just from jumping or survive a fall from space.

That’s how fall damage works…

I think fall damage would work best if it only took away your shields, taking away more shield the higher height you fall from.

Do you think this would work?

Don’t forget that we got fall damage in Reach only because those spartans were not as strong as MC, He was designed to take the damage. I seem to remember him falling from orbit and making it.

I mean a custom meter that makes fall damage more or less deadly depending on how high or low you set it.

No fall damage at all! EVER!

I only reason I can see to have fall damage in Halo 4 MP is to balance the thruster pack. Since I would assume you can’t hover to avoid grenades like in reach. If you use it to jump away from a grenade you will still lose your shield from the landing. It will make it so you have to use it kinda like the grav lift in halo 3. This is just what I think from what I’ve seen and no I don’t think it should be in the campaign.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some sort of fall damage in multiplayer, if you take a leap of faith, you’ll pay for it in one way or another. It’s a way to balance things, if you jump and try to run away or get a power weapon or vantage point, and fail, you should be punished. However, if it is present in MP, it shouldn’t be used unless we’re talking some serious air time. Jumping of a warthog an loosing a good part of your shield is just a bad idea…
Campaign should be fall-damage free, or at least not kill you, only take your shield if you fall, to encourage new tactics and exploration, but still make you vulnerable so you can get cheap advantages.

Wise man

I hate “soft” kill barriers. It’s so distracting. I don’t like invisible barriers either. If you really don’t want us to get to an area, don’t make it accessible. Everything I see in a game, I should be able to interact with if I can reach it. Any other type of barrier other than a natural one has always felt cheap and lazy to me.

Lol so didn’t Noble 6 right after Jorge detonated the Slipspace Bomb on the Covie Supercarrier. But then he couldn’t survive a 50 foot fall after dropping in from orbit without anything but a re-entry pack.

6 was a S-III not as strong and not as tough.

I guess it depends on the game mode. For most games, I feel like fall damage is necessary, especially considering we now have jet packs in MP. But for some games (the only one that comes to mind is SWAT, but snipers could likely be counted as well), it just slows down the game.

I say make it a customization option for MP

As far as campaign, we are playing as MC again, who is too beast to take fall damage, so hopefully we won’t have to deal with it.
