Its simple. It was a bad product that the halo community made speculatory excuses for, as they often do with 343’s blunders.
Halo Infinites story is a complete story from beginning to end. It sets up future titles but doesn’t necessarily need DLC. I’m going to guess a new Halo game will come in four years.
now then the 500 mill dollars budget has become a big waste of joke then in the gaming world if thats the ending from the campaign with a big budget like that.
there are a lot of other companys that wane have that much gaming budget to spent on there game developing.
The campaign was great.
I agree that it could have been buffed a bit. It needed a change of biome (or two). It needed a set piece battle vs a Scarab or something similar, and it needed an epic Warthog run.
Other than that it was a satisfying reboot and tidy up of some messy threads.
Some sort of DLC would have been nice - but I am happy to wait for another year or two for the next chapter.
Halo Infinite’s budget was $500,000,000 but that did not all go to the game development of the final build of the game.
Reportedly there were four separate builds of Infinite before the final version was settled upon, so a good chunk of the budget went into the development of these pre-alphas that went nowhere.
Then you have portion of the budget that went to overhauling the Blam! 6.0 engine so such a degree that they decided to rename it to the Slipspace Engine.
Not to mention the contractors. Liquid Development, Certain Affinity, Airborne Studios, and a few others lended their assistance during the development process.
Followed by the marketing budget.
For your typical triple-A title, that budget tends to rival the actual cost of building a game since you have to hire advertisement companies to make commercials, set up bill boards and other promo materials you will find in stores, and do cross-promotions with other brands; which we know Halo did a LOT of with Monster, Chips Ahoy, Doritos, and even a NAIL POLISH BRAND.
And then comes the biggest of the marketing expenses.
Outpost Discovery.
The world tour that Halo went on certainly wasn’t cheap. Renting out convention floors, the props and scenery, the staffing, the event security, travel expenses and hotel expenses. It all adds up.
So while the budget of Halo Infinite was around $500,000,000 it is actually safer to say that perhaps around $170,000,000 was spent on the actual game and engine (and that includes the other builds that were scrapped).
ESPECIALLY given the fact that the sound design team recorded an actual jet at a landing strip for multiple takes to get the pelican sounds.
the story from the campaign was not bad but more good.
but the open world setting was a compleet joke more.
need for speed for the xbox one.
need for speed payback for the xbox one.
and need for speed underground 2 for the orginal xbox.
has a better open world setting with a lower budget then halo infinite with a biger budget.
and that a orginal xbox game from 19 years ago has a better open world setting then a modern game is a shame more.
First off, Halo Infinites exact budget has never been officially confirmed by the studio or Xbox. It’s only been mentioned in articles claiming anonymous sources.
Secondly, the vast majority of Halo Infinites budget went to upgrading the engine to slipspace. Followed by marketing. I would guess (assuming Infinite did have a 500 million budget) that the game itself cost around 170-230 million only to develop.
then why have there never confirmend things like that then in the first place.
then why are there now then not confirmend about the scrap campaign dlc then also what has also been post on the articles.
you know also good that if there not confirmend things if its true or not that at some point things can chance a lot worse for the reputation from the game and the developer company.
and i think there sources there use are good trustfull.
its still better to read stuff like that from articles on gaming news site’s then hear compleet notting at all from the development company at all about things like this.
you know the 2 links i have post from both the articles what there have told back in 2020.
you know the sources from that is this forum the halowaypoint site.
still the 170-230 mill is a compleet waste.
still with a budget like 230 mill you can do a much better job with the open world setting from the campaign mode and have a better multiplayer mode also.
The campaign is what pulled in the big money. The Multiplayer being free was to get more people hooked on the game, and then possibly nudging them into buying the campaign, or better yet, the gift that keeps on giving (Profit) the game-pass.
The Campaign is the life, the soul, the passion of the game, the story of Halo, without it, it’s just a generic lifeless husk. Unfortunately, they severely messed up, they took everyone for fools. That’s how I see it.
Again I get that campaign is important, but it’s the multiplayer that’s suppose to keep players coming back to play the game, the campaign u can only play so many times, once for me is enough. Multiplayer, battle pass, monetization that’s how you have long term success, look at every other multiplayer game, some don’t even ship with proper campaign modes, just straight multiplayer with a little bit of lore. I played through the campaign, but it’s the multiplayer that keeps me coming back to play the game over and over and over again.
then again if there make from the multiplayer a big mess the only thing that is left is the campaign mode that can save the game’s reputation.
you know also really good that last year a lot off players have left the halo serie’s thanks to the big mess the multiplayer was.
so people got there hope’s up that the campaign was the only thing that can save the game reputation but since there have destroy it 2 time’s now big time people have lost there hope for the halo serie’s.
thats why what there are now doing is pointless to focus on a broken multiplayer there cant fix and drop the one thing that can save the game and the serie’s reputation for its good campaign mode.
Most games are shipping with story driven open-worlds, proper events, and content that sometimes justify the purchase price of a battle-pass, just look at Destiny, completely story driven.
Then you have apex and Fortnite that launched with nothing but a multiplayer mode
A good campaign will only temporarily help, you’re not comprehending what I’m saying, you’re just going back to the same thing. Let’s say halo never launched with multiplayer, the game would be nowhere near as big as it was. Yes they all great compelling stories that people loved, but if you look at where the actual success of where the game came from, it’s from the popular multiplayer experiences. Halo basically started the mlg scene, not from players competing to win money playing campaign, it’s from multiplayer.
I acknowledge everything you guys are saying about campaign mode, I don’t get why you guys think this game is all about campaign mode. If you look at all these big games at the top of streaming apps, more than majority of it is all multiplayer modes, competitive tournaments. So if 343 or Microsoft in this matter is sitting there saying we gotta make cuts, I can see why they cut the campaign side over multiplayer side, games need multiplayer to stay relevant, dosent matter how great or poor the campaign is, if you can have a great multiplayer then your most likely gonna have success which in turn will let them continue a story mode. Which I know a lot of ppl hate on the multiplayer side of this game but I honestly think this game is the best 343 has done, gameplay is amazing, they just gotta work a few bugs and offload more content more frequently and the game is fixed, it’s not like this game is unplayable, it is one of the better shooters out there imo, casual and competitive.
thats wierd.
game’s like god of war or zelda that have no multiplayer at all have the best of the best reputation and only have a campaign mode.
and there score super good with the people.
was it not that god of war has won some price’s at the game awards last year.
same go’s for skyrim, elden ring,DOOM and keep on with the story only game’s there have all done much better without any multiplayer mode at all.
so a story mode only game can do much better then game’s that have also a multiplayer mode.
the reason is super easy why we think only about the campaig mode now more.
the reason is that the multiplayer has fail super hard last year and has also make a good big crash in the population.
if the multiplayer is that good for the game why have there not fix the big problems then since most off the problems the multiplayer have are day 1 problems that have been around since day 1 and not have been fix.
all of then have no big game breaking problems what halo infinite multiplayer still have.
then explane why game’s like god of war or zelda are doing much better then halo infinite.
since it seems that it has notting to do with the multiplayer at all.
Ok games released solely with campaign and no multiplayer better do well or else they sink, I’m not talking bout campaign games I’m talking about multiplayer games. So yea I can see the draw solely based campaign games can have. All the money used goes directly into story mode. Halo is not solely story driven and therefore does not fall into what we’re talking about
then explane battlefield 2042 then it has the same crap reputation problem as the halo serie’s has now.
explane call of duty vanguard also.
both off then have the worst of the worst reputation since there multiplayer have become a big mess since release.
and there have not fix the big mess also from both game’s.
And yet it’s all the multiplayer games at the top of viewerships no matter the state of the game, multiplayer is what keeps the games relevant, you want players to come back and play your game, issues can always be sorted out
if thats the case why has halo infinite still a big population problem if its about the viewerships?
you know that the cod serie’s reputation has been restore with the release from Moderen Warface 2 2022.
since there have learn the hard way and know to not release a broken game to the public anymore.
there know release a broken game to the public is also bad for the serie’s reputation and can destroy it compleet.
Like I said issues can be fixed. Listen my gripe with you is “multiplayer” vs “campaign” at this point I’m not even talking bout just halo, and I’ll give you a game like gta for example. Loved the story mode gta story mode is always great, now how do you think they got away without making gta6 for so long??? MULTIPLAYER!!! GTA “online” not offline, so what do you choose to have more success? Relevance, how do you stay relevant, keeping players engaged with a multiplayer mode. You can win all the trophy’s in the world with story mode but the game will only last aslong as the campaign.
