Campaign DLC? ideas

So, like many of you in the community I have been keeping up with the event in the halo universe since the first game. While I have enjoyed each game as a standalone the plot line armor seems to be wearing thin with the winter update bring old friends back to the series. The biggest problem that many are dealing with is the unfinished plotline fatigue. While we might buy the books or make sure we grab all the audio logs, over the course of the last few games there is a huge problem with how writers have basically blinded the community with cliff hangers that go nowhere. Below are examples that need to be address given what has happen.

The forerunner Guardians? (Prometheans Soldiers, guardians, Warden Eternal) We see a guardian in Halo infinite that crashed on part of the rings.
Halo Wars 2 ending. addressing red team, captain cutter and the new ring Anders has been on.
Factions of the covenant that are still left. status of the Arbiter, ext.
Plot lines that still need to be address. Bastion from the audio logs from Halo 5 guardians.

Trying to explain this to other has become somewhat of a nuisance. However, there is a youtuber with the channel Halo Canon that may help some of you who may be returning to the series after 5 or who have never played halo wars 2.

Going forward I hope they either address the 6 months prior to us playing as chief or follow up with some of the other spartan teams that could have track down infinity’s last location be it Blue, RED, Alpha 9 or Osiris spartan teams. As of right now the new Spartans that were part of the LONE WOLF updates seam bland at best. There is also no confirmation about other Spartans that we were forced to get acquainted with over the years. So, I feel that at any moment 343I could try to make these characters important again. The issue I have is if Laskey, Halsey and Palmer survived They would still be stuck in space for a good amount of time depending on if their ships had slip space drives. There is also no word on if we will get to meet offensive bias who in all reality could actually explain everything from the books to returning player.

The other issue I foresee is Just as the harbinger communicated with the endless at the end, so could aritox try meddling in the affairs time. Finally, there is something that has been bugging me and I hope 343 doesn’t take this series in this direction but I hope they don’t push reverse time travel onto the series. They can keep jumping a few days into the future because that makes sense for how the endless survive the firing of the array. I just don’t care for Atriox trying to warn his planet of Cortana Destroying it.

Also, Horvath went up spend and is MIA up spin on the ring looking for his fire team. There is still a huge area on the campaign may we have not been to so naturally one would think they would go one of a few places. 1 the control room. 2 The cartographer and 3 the library that stores that halo ring’s activation index key. As we know the ring is still slowly being rebuilt and thus these areas would still be an integral part of securing the facilities from the banish.

Id would prefer to play as a ODST in a dlc if they make one; unless they bring back a campaign in which your spartan gets shown in the cutscenes like reach.

Would like to hear other people thoughts on this because it feels like even after a year of being release the writers dropped the ball or have no clue about their own canon.

100% agreed, 343 is always begining new story without finish what they started (Didact, Created …). I wouldn’t be surprised if they just give up on Halo Infinite and the endless and start a new game with a new threat

As I say in my topic “time travel is not a thing in Halo”, nothing proove it is possible to go back to past and with all this unfinished story, it would be a mess to do it

The big question is also to know how the Banished manage to fight and resist against Cortana on Doisac and Halo Zeta where the UNSC is only able to run away !

343 is so far behind on their schedule that I wouldn’t be surprised if the DLC camaign appear in 2030 !

I really do think it’s going to be a new game and not DLC.

Whilst I think they will bring in the Infinity crew it’s probably more likely to focus on the threat of the Endless and the Return of Atriox and Offensive Bias. They’ve locked themselves into that and the mystery of Zeta Halo. So I just can’t see them dedicating what limited content they can produce to a relatively minor conflict.

They really need to be raising the stakes and keeping the focus on Chief unless there’s a massive increase in what content they can produce. Like Gears of War does campaign DLC unrelated to the main campaign. But those work because it has the tools to do that. You can have your story about how the Hivebusters formed. But I don’t think 343 has the capacity to do that without it turning into “we could just make this it’s own game” and will probably take just as long.

DLC Campaign — MAJESTIC

Play as Spartan Gabriel Thorne once again.

The UNSC Infinity has been defeated and crash landed on a hospitable moon. Zeta Halo slip-spaced away with any UNSC forces in the immediate vicinity now stranded on the ring. Fireteam Majestic had successfully evacuated the UNSC Infinity as it plummeted to the hospitable moon. Survivors are scattered.

Your objectives are as follows —

  • Establish a safe location as a base of operations.
  • Locate survivors and bring them back to safety.
  • Locate key members of the crew. Ship Captain Thomas Lasky, First Officer Leona Strauss, Spartan Commander Palmer, Captain Veronica Dare, Master Sergeant Pete Stacker, & Dr. Henry Glassman.
  • Survive the alien wildlife of the moon.
  • Search the UNSC Infinity for Roland and evaluate whether or not he was a sleeper agent that was working for Cortana, resulting in the ship defenses going down or if there was another reason the UNSC Infinity’s shields and weapons systems were offline.
  • Prevent the Banished forces on the planetoid from putting together an effective measure at preventing your escape from the moon.
  • Restore function to one of the Strident-Class Frigates and escape the moon with all hands possible.

Simple objectives and story plot.
Helps to answer questions as to how the UNSC Infinity was defeated in four minutes.
Clarifies whether or not Roland was truly a friend to Humanity or a sleeper agent of Cortana.

I have a feeling that if they make story DLC it’ll be an overpriced cashgrab.
I’ve half given up on on Halo. It’s all just max price for minimum quality with Infinite.

But if they do continue the story my wishes would be:
More atmospheric variety.
Stop introducing characters 2 minutes before they’re killed off.
Bring back Halsey and Lasky as central characters, and maybe Blue team and the Arbiter if there is space for it in the plot.
Bring back more of the classic weapon sandbox.
When it comes to the Endless I’m just gonna sit back and see where it goes.

One thing about DLC or future story

At the end of the campaign Chief says there will be consequences for killing Escharum. Well, I think that’s another thing 343 will have to address and I am going to hold them to that.

If it’s just the Banished as they were but with Atriox slipping back into command; that just won’t cut it. Atriox already has motive to hate Chief because of Cortana so you killing Escharum isn’t really changing things.

Really the Banished should visually be shown as on the back foot after you smashed them in Halo Infinite (and Halo Wars 2). This should be reflected in how the story plays out, what characters say, audio logs and maybe even in the types of enemies we see.

Obvious one would be - The Endless betray Atriox. Shock, I know. He don’t have the men to keep them in check.

What I don’t want to see is a conscious effort to dismiss what the previous adventure did. None of this, “that was a small segment of the ring”. Yeah, the one that houses the Silent Auditorium and is the center of Banished operations to restore the ring; with you killing their senior leadership. There will be many an eye roll if that’s glossed over and we have to curb stomp the Banished again next game or DLC.

Escharum said they brought many legions on the ring. They will be weakened but it will make them even more enraged and dangerous. Their defeat will make them want even more revenge

Yeah but compare that to the Covenant in the original trilogy -

Halo CE - You destroy a Covenant armada and thwart their control over a Halo array

Halo 2 - The Great Schism and destruction of High Charity

Halo 3 - The Destruction of the Covenant and alliance with the Elites

Compared to the Banished

Halo Wars 2 - You kill a load of Banished but they’re still a threat to the Ark

Halo Infinite - You kill a load of Banished but they’re still a threat to Zeta Halo

This is basically keeping the faction in a holding pattern. They’re a punching bag whereas in the OG trilogy the Covenant is either decisively defeated or you have a major event that shakes the conflict. This gives a sense of weight and meaning to the story.

We’ve had two games where basically nothing has changed. The only change has been the drip feed of more context in which, apparently, nobody realised the Banished were the greatest military power in the Galaxy. But the actual actions we as the player take haven’t impacted the Banished.

Also, I don’t think we’re killing Atriox or leaving Zeta Halo anytime soon so this will continue to be a problem. I don’t think 343 are going to depict the Banished degrading as you continue to pound them into the ground.

Indeed it’s a big difference with the Banished, they lost a lot of soldiers, but they’re still present with on the Ark and Halo Zeta. At Bungie time, the scenario was more interesting
