We will not likely get any DLC story or new missions, but I feel there are some things that could definitely be included.
I have been thinking for a while that with all the marketing and everything leading up to Halo 5 and the story, that 343i would actually want you to play the story. However, now that the game is out, there is almost no incentive to play the story or the missions. They made a ton of emphasis on coop and playing the game with other spartans, and even made several of the achievements based on playing coop and heroic. Those are great and all, but these are my issues with that:
For one, there is no campaign matchmaking. For having the intent to play through the campaign on coop to get achievements, etc, and even designing the game for that purpose, campaign matchmaking on coop difficulty should have been a thing. You can be matched according to missions or achievements that you lack, or something, anything.
There is a huge emphasis on your REQ’s, so much in fact that it also drive you away from the campaign. Campaign gives you nothing! No armor, no experience points, no req points, no commendations, nothing!
So my plead is for Campaign DLC to include matchmaking for campaign, campaign commendations with some campaign exclusive req packs to unlock, and even rp and experience.
I actually enjoyed the Halo 5 campaign, but feeling that playing through it gets me nothing is really disappointing. What do you think about some campaign love? Yes or No?
I would love to see campaign related commendations. Maybe lump them in with the enemy kill commendations at least (obviously the numbers would have to be adjusted) or maybe not and just keep them separate. But I agree 100% there needs to be more reward for playing campaign. I really want to see daily/weekly challenges make a return and have some of them be campaign based. I absolutely loved the challenges in Reach that made you play a campaign mission in some interesting way. Say what you will about the story, but this game’s campaign was super fun to play, but seriously lacks replayability.
This was the main thing I addressed in the most recent feedback survey. I feel that there are more moments to be had in Halo 5’s Campaign, but as a standalone mode, it’s treatment is beyond pitiful in lieu of the new REQ system. Why should I play something that won’t help me complete the game?
I was watching a video on halo 5’s marketing being off topic and they had brought up that Halo 2’s marketing was false (not to halo 5’s level of course) claiming that you’d save earth when you were barely on earth. But they finished that storyline with Halo 3. So although it wasn’t the greatest strategy maybe all the Locke vs Chief stuff we were lead to believe will be happening in the sequel?

I have been doing some intel searches and stuff lately, and it is really fun gameplay wise. I just wish they would put something in to help with the deployability.
Theater mode.
Campaign Scoring (team and FFA)
Campaign matchmaking (Heroic difficulty, because achievements)
Campaign commendations. (Enemies, vehicles, weapons[including hidden legendary weapons] etc.)
Experience towards rank.
REQ points.
And some special armor or skins for beating it Legendary.
Bandana Skull for the heck of it.
If there’s any campaign DLC (which there won’t be), I would like to see a campaign on Sanghelios with Arbiter, Rtas Vadum (Half-Jaw), and the two Elites from Halo 3 co-op.

I agree that they won’t add anything to the story or mission wise, but I am just asking for what should have already been included that many of the past Halo games had at launch.
Have you seen the new book by Joseph Staten? It is about Half-Jaw and it would be awesome to make a spinoff game with him in it, I loved that character.
Si senor. I need some campaign lovin. Plus we never had campaign dlc before. We’re in a new age with new hardware. I dont see why it cant be done. Halo 5 could use the content seriously tho. Its a little skinny in that department.

All these are great ideas! And the intel and stuff did add some fun replayability, but only to an extent. I’ve already found them all, and it really didn’t take long. I think Campaign Scoring, and then further, challenges for XP or REQ points to do cool things in campaign or beat levels with extra skulls or with a certain score or what have you would just add so much more.

> Also yes. Bandana Skull.
They could even make the intel and skulls part of the commendations as well. There is soo much they could be doing for the campaign side.
And I do find it odd they didn’t include the bandana skull since they are the ones who originally put it into the Halo games lately. Just that skull alone will boost replayability, especially when using it with the hidden legendaries in the game.
