Campaign DLC hopes: Spirit of fire

Lets face it, The infinity is cool but as a flag ship it doesn’t fit halo, halo is about humanity being up against vastly superior foes and coming out on topi.

I can understand why they took out the infinity because well that turns the game into We have big ship with heavy forces we can’t loose. But there is another ship in halo lore one that halo wars fans love and that fits halo’s over arching theme of hope against all odds.

the spirit of fire.

While yes the ship doesn’t have a slip space drive, there are portals form the arc to other rings we already know that from the books, so them getting to zeta isn’t out of the question in fact do to their war with the banished I would think they would be giving chaise and heading to zeta to stop Atriox.

This would also unlock a lot of cool gameplay if we have an upgraded FOB the fire base.

FIRE BASES

These would be introduced in DLC, and would act as high value FoB’s with outpost level events to take their sites so the spirit of fire can set them up. Unlike FoBs which can only summon in vehicles and weapons, FoB’s can summon in special allies, high class vehicles, and even things like air support.

Examples of FIRE BASE UNIQUE ITEMS.

  1. Grizzly tank
A have scorpion varriant that has 2 gunner slots, the standard front one, and a secondary AA gunner, the driver can swap between 120mm main cannon and twin m247H’s

  2. Cyclops support
info these are allies that can’t ride in vehicles but are armed with a high powered 20mm main canon. they also have jump packs to follow chief.

  3. elephant support
A unique heavy vehicle for high valor works as a mobile FoB can spawn marines around it where ever you set it up, has 3 Hog turrets and can summon weapons in the back, sadly is only able to spawn a gungoose vehicle wise.

  4. Pelican drops
Allows you in the late game to call in pelican’s to provide air support or gunship support, both are different these are done with an armor ability.

  5. armor ability swaps
Swap out your Grapple with a repulser, your threat detector with a cloak, your barrier with reinforcements, ETC.

Also on top of this, any excuse to have hellbringers following chief. Just imagine the chaos of fire, grunts running away in terror brutes rushing into the flames seemingly unharmed.

Hmm anyone else really want the spirit of fire more any more as the days go by?

God I hope they bring the spirit of fire. I’d like to see Red Team Unite with chief for a mission or two where they face overwhelming odds but as the bad@$$ Spartan II’s they are, they prevail. Having the SoF there for support and Captain Cutter coordinating the counter offensive until UNSC reinforcements arrive.

Same I miss the spirit of fire already and I just played HW2 a few days ago.

Early on, when I thought that this game might actually contain any humans other than Chief and the Pilot, I had this hope that at the climax of Infinite, the Infinity would be getting pummeled by the Banished and all would be almost lost, then the Spirit of Fire would blast in from a portal and come in guns blazing, slamming into a banished supercarrier and sacrificing itself.

I sort of see what you mean about the Infinity, but for me it was really one of the few things 343 did right. The other ship classes they introduced were all pretty weak compared to previous bungie ones. I think that in my mind the solution to the issue you’re seeing (about humans needing to be the underdog, could have potentially been solved by re-introudcing the CSO class from Halo Reach, which seems like a real match for the Infinity.

The Infinity was made after the Covenant war, the vastly superior foes, and repurposed for peace. It became the symbol of them becoming superior themselves. Thats why its their flagship. Halo isnt always revolved around their butts being whooped.

But I understand where you are going with. For the past three games with the Infinity, it really doesnt do anything compared to the Spirit of fire. But i also dont see your idea working, it just sounds like a whole new game. With how small the map is and enemy spawn rate, the uselessfulness of all those content would not be fulfilled.
