Campaign DLC Content

Do you all thing we’ll get new skulls and audio logs to collect when DLC for the Campaign comes out whenever that is

I don’t know about new skulls being added to the game (what skulls besides the iron skull could viably be added?). However, I would be surprised if they did not add any new collectibles like audio logs with campaign DLC. I guess we’ll just need to wait until DLC gets released to find out though.

If they added new skulls what type of skulls would you like to see in the game

Piñata from Combat Evolved Anniversary and Halo 2 Anniversary for sure. I just love punching things for grenades.

i hope some old weapons return in the campaign mode.
like the forerunner weapons.
and some vehicles make a return.

and some new vehicles from halo Wars are also not bad to come.

and most off all the assassinations needs to make a return for sure.

I do miss the Gauss Warthog, M6 magnum, M45/M90 shotgun (the bulldog is just too underpowered for me), M7/M20 SMG, Covenant carbine/needler rifle, the storm/plasma rifle (we didn’t need the pulse carbine to be a thing), assassinations, CAMPAIGN SCORING, the spiker (it baffles me that this wasn’t included in a BRUTE heavy game), a variant of the brute shot, and either the brute prowler or the Halo 2 Spectre (which was essentially a more elegant version of the prowler with boosting). I wouldn’t mind getting most of the forerunner weapons back or things like the DMR either.

All the Forerunner weapons from the Bungie games are in Infinite and its just the Sentinel Beam. If you mean prometheans then nope lol, their weapons sucked they were just Human weapons with a bright orange neon skin.

I would like to see a Grizzly and Cobra come to the game along with the Locust, I always thought they were wicked cool when I was a little kid.

maybe in the halo 3 or halo reach.
but in halo 4 and halo 5 there are also call forerunner weapons the light rilfe and so.
since there are in the same catogery then the sentinel beam.

I’m totally down for the grizzly tank to be included in an fps halo game and not just as decoration. I want to fire those twin barrels. See my previous post for more info (grizzly in infinite?)[https://forums.halowaypoint.com/t/could-we-add-the-m850-grizzly-tank-to-the-game-somehow/507139?u=saltybunny20567]

They really aren’t just human weapons with different shapes and different coloured projectiles. If you played around with them for a while, you’d notice that they often preform differently than their human/covenant counterparts. They fit similar niches but are not the same as the human weapons.

Sandbox Purists for quite some time wanted them to get rid of redundant weapons (read: weapons that filled the same niche as others). So instead of Covenant Carbine AND BR we now only have the BR, etc. We can of course debate whether or not this was the right choice however given that this seems to underly Infinite’s sandbox design I’d be rather surprised to see many new weapons come to the game. It’s more likely we’d see more variants of existing weapons.

Is this why every weapon seems to have one role only?

I think there’s a chance more weapons will be added, but I do agree that the “sandbox purists” drove the discussion that resulted in today’s sandbox.

The below is from the September 2021 “Inside Infinite” and the details show why I think new weapons and vehicles are likely to be added:

Andrew Witts: The main problem we knew we had to solve was - how do we add new sandbox items to our gameplay experiences without creating friction among the player base? In previous Halo games, if you wanted to play the new content then you had to wait for a specific map to appear in the matchmaking queue or hope that it was not vetoed by other players in the lobby. We wanted to build systems that could receive new sandbox toys and populate across the game vs. just in certain maps. We invested so much into the Item Spawner system that players see with weapon racks, equipment pads, grenade pads, and vehicle pads so that we could push a new weapon, equipment, grenade or vehicle into the entire experience. That’s not to say that we won’t put all changes through their paces. We want to make sure we add new sandbox items in a way that generates positive gameplay experiences for our players.

To tie this into campaign - I envision that some number of the sandbox changes that get undertaken over the course of the game may be introduced in single player content and MP content simultaneously - we know, for instance, that the Brute Skiff exists in rudimentary form in the game files (unfinished in the game files, but loadable, and was part of the Infinite Mega Blocks stuff, so cut/delayed content maybe?), and if this were to be introduced into MP, we would likely see it debut in the SP content as well, IMO, since it’ll have some form of lore interaction.

Audio logs? I can’t imagine not getting more. Skulls? That ones more doubtful. They would have to start coming up with some original skull ideas as they already have most of the classic ones in the game, and while they demonstrated themselves to be quite adept at this with all the Halo 2 skulls they added in MCC, I’m still doubtful that they’ll bring any of them to Infinite.

Yeah I d expect a few audio logs.

Think about all the heavy lifting the next expansion has to cover:

  • Introducing Atriox as a villain
  • Introducing Offensive Bias
  • Introducing the Endless…properly
  • Introducing some UNSC allies

You get the idea, that’s a lot of ground to cover. This next expansion really does need to up the stakes and push the story forward. They’ve done the personal story and set up the team; now they need to start answering questions about where we’re going.

In fact I have seen on YouTube that there are Atriox audio files which aren’t in the game currently. So these are likely going to be added at some point. Basically confirms he knows about the Endless prior to coming to Zeta Halo.

Personally I didn’t like them because they’re very much giving the villain far too much dignity like Thanos. I know that like with Escharum they aren’t going to challenge these things because it would undermine the villains gravitas. I am not saying Chief has to say he’s scum whose people got what they deserved; but if he’s all about how he’s the victim and needs to punish humanity. There should at least be some sarcastic or dry commentary from the Weapon for that sort of thing. Sometimes irreverence is the natural response to an arrogant villain; not stoicism.

Not sure it’s totally their fault because I feel MLG played a part in that too.

The Cove Carbine has its distinct advantages and disadvantages as a weapon too. It was almost same ttk as BR but was spam based and had bullet trail, which isn’t really loved by MLG.

I loved the Carbine. I always went for it in Halo 3, and yes I know full well that it is technically no better than the BR. But in my eyes at least it has always been a lot more satisfying to use.

We do have the Heatwave which is, in lore, a Forerunner design. We may have more of that variety of weapons.

Also one thing to note about the Hardlight weapons in Infinite: they have a unique Reload feature. It’s an inbetween of an Ammo based weapon and a Battery weapon and has the benefits of both:

  1. You don’t lose the shooting abiity of a weapon from overheating

  2. You can interrupt your reload and keep firing.

In thia regard, 343 is onto something here, creating a unique class of weapons that have this unique reload as their trait.

Maybe we’ll see a Hardlight Rifle next? Who knows. But ultimately it should be unique and features an interaction not seen in other weapons. It can be like the Incineration cannon where it splits up on contact so you kinda just shoot and it splashes everywhere.
