Which frame rate do you prefer? and would it be a bad idea to have a setting for it?
It wouldn’t really matter. Doesn’t make any sort of impact on the experience. The cutscenes are there to fill us in on what’s going on and teach us some things as well. The option wouldn’t really matter anyway, but I reckon that 60 FPS would always be preferred over 30, bu in the end, it all ends up the same.
If the game runs at 60 fps, then the obvious answer is 60 fps. There’s no point transitioning from one framerate to another in the middle of the game. One might argue of course that halving the framerate allows the cutscenes to run at higher fidelity, since 60 fps is not as crucial to cutscenes as it is to gameplay. However, I personally find a consistency between gameplay and cutscenes as well as smoothness of cutscenes more valuable than a small bump in graphical fidelity.

Halo 5 on the vanilla Xbox One and Xbox One S runs at 60 FPS in game, but 30 in cutscenes. On the Xbox One X, I believe cutscenes run at 60, but I’m not sure.
personally i don’t care if its in 30 or 60, if the story is good it will make up for the lack of visuals.
Depends on the gameplay frames & whether cutscenes will be made from in-game models or that they are separately made.
Though for me, it doesnt matter that much. As long as the game runs smooth and its otherwise good.
60fps for sure. The only reason 30fps gets its “cinematic” moniker is because of tradition. 60fps is miles better in almost every way, save for file sizes and the potential to make some people sick.
24fps or 30fps for the max cinematic look. 60fps cutscenes just look odd to me. kinda like high frame rate movies…
Don’t get me wrong, gameplay needs to be 60fps
I really prefer 30fps for cinematics and maybe a letter box format.
60fps cinematics it’s like watch a movie with “true motion” TV option and it’s… really really bad.
A solution for all players would be to have an option like : Framerate and format cutscenes with two choices “Normal (60fps)” or “Cinema (30fps/letterbox)”.
Depends on the cutscene if it’s CGI or in game.
Every cutscene that they have shown for Halo Infinite so far is rendered in the game engine itself rather than a prerendered cutscene, so the cutscenes should run at the very least at whatever your system can handle. This will likely mean that custcenes on the OG Xbox One will run at 30 fps while Series X/S will run at 60 fps. PC will run at whatever your system configuration is set to or can handle. The best evidence for this is that in the campaign footage we have seen, the cutscene with Chief exiting the pelican seamlessly cuts into gameplay after zooming into his helmet, which would only be possible if the game engine were rendering the cutscene as part of the game itself rather than a separate, isolated instance.
Why would anyone in their right mind prefer 30? 60 should the absolute minimum.
Halo Infinite’s cutscenes are going to be like God Of War in the sense that there’s little to no cuts, think of the campaign demo for example. So it’s most likely gonna be a consistent visual experience depending on where you’re playing

Of course if the game run with no transitions , no cuts like trailer demo , yes the best way it’s a consistent frame rate.
But if it’s traditionnal cut scenes so , an option would be great to have choices.

I agree, but hilariously, Bungie picked this habit up with Destiny. It’s always been kinda jarring for the game to go from a silky-smooth 120fps (on PC) to 30fps once a cutscene starts. I mean, they’re quite rare with the game in its seasonal format these days, but still.
Anyways, being on PC, I’d prefer not having in-engine cutscenes have their framerates locked. Whatever my framerate cap is, the in-engine cutscenes should be if it’s something not limited by the engine.
I’d prefer any CG cutscenes to be 60fps, but I totally understand that it’s quite a bit of extra work required just to squeeze out some extra frames.

On PC i hope in the Cutscenes for so much FPS like the FPS in game. But if it is on 60 FPS wouldn’t be bad either. For Console 60 if it’s possible (Should be possible, at least for XSX, XSS)
