No its not. Because they didnt say anything. Had they communicated this there would be a lot less people pissed off. Yes people would be pissed at a delay, but now even more people are pissed that we had to wait until the absolute last second to find out about that. They are not making sound publicity decisions.
Also the notion that 343 is making sound development decisions crumbles to pieces when you consider that this game only came out 9 months ago. There was no sound decision in this games release. Only greed.
The goal for them was to grind and release a stable co op build by today. So nobody would be pissed off at all.
They are doing the best they can to deliver the best experience. High quality often takes extra time.
Wouldn’t you and others be more pissed off if co op campaign did come out today and it was a laggy buggy nightmare?
Publicity is a lower priority. There is no salvaging their reputation at this time. They know their best shot at doing this is when they are able to drop high quality updates and additions.
I speculate that this roadmap is actually their roadmap out of development hell. At the end of this road the team will have a better rhythm and have the ability to produce very rich seasonal content. But first they need to grind this out and get the game to where it should have been at launch.
I’m not advocating for rushed development. I’m calling 343 out for their blatant mishandling of this franchise. They shouldnt have said late August. Or they should have at least announced in mid-August that there would be a delay. I am happy they delayed it if it needs work. I am not happy that they waited until the last second to comunicate that.
Herein lies the de facto problem with this game. All of these blaring issues could be non-existent (or at least minimalized) had they just gone ahead and waited to release the game. If they want to market a broken incomplete mess to their fans as a full game to enjoy, theyre going to suffer the wrath of people who have the gumption to hold them accountable for the blunders they commit to this title seemingly on a month by month basis.
Hard disagree on that one. The entire development of Infinite has been one giant delay. At some point these people need to be held accountable for being more competent and meeting deadlines like normal people in the workforce.
And thats my point. If they had just said “late August - mid september” in their target, none of this would be happening. Theres no defense when they gave a target time and failed to update that time until the absolute last second. Odds are that they knew coop wasnt gonna be ready for “late August” long before today, yet they remained silent. Saying “target dates are subject to change” is such a cop out for them. And its disrespectful to their fans who have been eagerly waiting to play this game with their friends. Theres no “in their defense” because once again, theyve dropped the ball and proven that they cannot properly manage this game. And im not even saying that in reference to being unable to meet the deadline they set. I’m saying that in reference to them setting a deadline that they couldnt meet, and then not communicating that they wouldnt meet that deadline until the last second. Theres no defense for that. Only a cop out.
I agree, but infinite was supposed to launch like what, 2 years ago?
Whatever announcement they make cant be trusted anymore.
This better be an informative update today.
Its crazy, but people forgetting to cancel their xbox gold subscriptions are probably a better source of income than halo infinite at this point.
Have y’all heard about the general boycott? I’m hearing "uninstall today, and don’t re-install until either A: another studio is handed Halo, or B: the game is content complete (including all features promised at launch, including splitscreen co-op.)
I hope this doesn’t make things worse for us, and for the players who are still engaged…
