In making my way through all the heaps of reveals and new information on Halo 4, especially that pertaining to co-op Spartan Ops, I seemed to forget about one thing: Campaign Co-Op Characters. Who are they? And how can they be present in the first mission given that it’s solely Cortana, The Chief and a couple of enemies on the Forward Unto Dawn?
Well, although I can’t answer the latter, I believe two images may give some insight on the former: The Chief Standing With Two Sp.IVs and a Marine and A Mission Involving Chief and Some New Friends.
You’ll notice, of course, that these characters coincide, and Chief is clearly shown to be in an active mission, not just in a cut scene. This gives support to the theory that these characters are, in fact, the Co-Op characters, yet there are only 3 pictured. This gives way to further speculation as to say that the Marine and the First Sp.IV are either the second or third players’ characters. I’d wager the Marine is No. 2, since the Two Sp.IV are matching, and would make sense to be No.3 and No.4.
To those who have some insight/opinon
Do you have further thought on who these might be?
Are the Sp.IVs specific characters, or simply generic Sp.IVs that will be filled by your own personalized Spartan?
Food for thought.
It was said somewhere that player 2-4 will be Chief clones. I don’t know if that’s true but I hope it isn’t, I’d rather they be your multiplayer spartan like Reach.
Those Spartans and marine can be place holders but who knows
I was wondering this too. But then I started wondering if with the addition of SPARTAN Ops, are they dropping Co-operative campaign entirely? It would make sense canonically if they want to do that, since (presumably) the Master Chief will be alone for a large portion of the game. I’m jumping to conclusions here, but does anyone else get this feeling?

Hmmm, I’d have to agree. Wouldn’t especially like that, but where’d they mention it?

343 has confirmed that campaign co-op will return. I think campaign co-op would most likely have you playing as Chief clones, although playing as your own multiplayer Spartan-IVs would make more sense and be more fun.
To OP: How would playing as a marine work? Compared to the other co-op players, you’d have much less health, no shields, be much weaker, and generally be a hindrance rather than a help. I doubt that co-op characters will be anything other than Spartans.

I believe this is the case. This feature would make me feel like my spartan actually played a large role by helping the Chief directly.
However when Cortana starts going rampant…yeah I’m not touching that. Advanced AI goes wild inside of the Chief’s head? I can take on both the Covenant and the Flood but I’m not getting near Cortana. She scary.
It wouldn’t be that hard to incorporate your multiplayer spartan into co-op campaign. they could simply start off in the spare cryo-tubes on Forward Unto Dawn.

I’ve thought the same and came to the same conclusion, yet no evidence of other co-op characters have appeared. If not a one of such characters, why is he prominent in the mission? A new important character maybe?

I think I heard it on these forums, so like I said I don’t know if its true.

Ah, okay, I’ve wondered that, but since they’ve had every other aspect of the game fit into the canon, I predict they’ll do the same with Multiplayer Campaign, unless of course…
> I started wondering if with the addition of SPARTAN Ops, are they dropping Co-operative campaign entirely?
my theory is that 2 playings will be master chief and arbiter and the other 2 will be their own Spartans or if arbiter is not in then there will Be 3 people with their own Spartans.
Please 343! No Chief clones!
Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please!
I’m thinking it will most likely be Chief clones.
I’d prefer being able to use our MP Spartans though.
I’m pretty sure that i read somewhere that they were two ODSTs wearing new armor and that they aren’t spartan IV’s, i’ve forgot where i read this and i don’t have a link sorry

I was wondering this as well, their visors are blue even
I was hoping player No.2, No.3 and No.4 would be their own Personal MP Spartan IV.

heh I don’t wanna be marine, the only thing they’ve done was serve as meat sheild. i think everyone is gonna be master cheif. but maybe with a diffrent shade of green.

Nope your spartan is still training soldier.

It would not make sense for co op to be spartan 4s until the infinity arrives… but when it does i would like it to change to that

ODST visors are BLACK.
