Well, I was thinking, we already know that the chief’s back, but if there is going to be 4 player co-op, who are the other 3 players going to be. Maybe then they will let you use your own spartan for co-op.
Would be nice for co-op at least.

YES, I think this is a must. I felt that, in 343i going back to Chief, they were belittling the place that the player held in the Halo universe (Noble Six at the time), and essentially saying to us, “You are not important.”
I think this would be the best way to have Halo appeal to a larger audience, and not just the Master Chief fans.
This is the one thing I hated about the campaign story wise in Reach, well until I learned how badly Halo Reach doesn’t fit in canon.
I want to play as the chief, its Johns story, not mine, this isn’t a damn RPG game. If it was an RPG then by all means go ahead, but its not.
We should be the Chief and only the Chief.
More characters = limited narative possibilties.
I can’t honestly say I’m being unbiased here, but I really think that the main playable character should be John. It made sense to let us customize Noble Six and make him/her our own in Reach because there is so little information about him/her, but in Halo 4, the way the Chief looks should be determined by 343i, not us.
If there were a few levels or sequences that involved other characters (The Arbiter, or maybe even a Forerunner in a flashback like someone mentioned), then I would be open to playing as that character as well, though. I enjoyed playing as the Arbiter in Halo 2 and I was honestly kind of disappointed when none of the missions in Halo 3 were from the perspective of Thel 'Vadam. I was secretly hoping that we would get to see an AI John kick some -Yoink- from the Arbiter’s perspective lol.

Your no option should simply say “no.” I don’t want to play as my own Spartan, but I am open to the possibility of playing as another important character at some points. The purpose of a poll is for people to vote for their “yes or no” or otherwise black and white choice and if they feel the need to justify their choice or clarify it, then they can post about it.

What if John-117 were not the playable character but still a major character? Or rather, if he were not the only playable character but one of two or three?
I enjoyed playing as the arbiter in halo 2 but besides that, i would never want to play as anyone but the chief. He is halo
It is a story about Master Chief. So we will play as Master Chief. It doesn’t make sense to let your spartan play the role of him in the campaign.
First, you are a Spartan IV, not nearly as powerful as Master Chief.
Second, How would you get to Requiem?
Third, you weren’t on the FUD, so how did you appear out of thin air?
Fourth, The story wouldn’t make any sense as now you would have created a lot of plot holes.
Fifth, We want to play as Master Chief. We have waited for 5 years, so stop trying to hold out on us and let us play as the Hero of the story.
Sixth, You have no relationship with Cortana, so that whole dynamic between them would just be gone.
Seventh, you would get destroyed by the Covenant and any other enemies because you are much weaker than MC.
Need me to go on?

All of those points are incredible biased and all-in-all, pretty dumb.
For one, the game isn’t even out yet, you are making a baseless, completely biased assumption. For two, they don’t need to be on Requiem, there’s a whole army of them on the Infinity. For three, they don’t need to be on the FUD, because, once again, there’s a whole army of them on the Infinity. Once again, it is easily explainable with the Infinity and its compliments, so no real danger of plot holes there. Oh, and not everyone wants to continue playing as Master Chief over and over and over again. We’ve got Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and now Halo 4’s main campaign, for that. And Cortana’s relationship with Master Chief could actually be explored to its fullest from a third person perspective, and on what information are you basing the SPARTAN-IV’s capabilities? Once again, the frakken game isn’t even out yet!

I REALLY believe in Halo 4’s Campaign, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th players will be their own Spartan player models while Player 1 is MC… well, now at least.
At first, I heard “this is John’s story with FirstPersonView Cinematics”, so then I was like “Campaign is Singleplayer and only Singleplayer. Awesome, now it’ll be really amazing. The cinematic possibilities are endless!”, then they were like “4 player Coop is possible in Campaign”, then I was like “FFFUUUUUUUUUU”
