My favorite part of Halo has always been the campaign and fighting the Covenant, the Flood, the Sentinels, and even Prometheans. I’m glad that each successive game has added more troops to the battlefield and more scripted moments of awesome (brutes executing marines in Crow’s Nest, the Jackal taking down the marines in the lab by Halo ring 3, etc…) Those are cool, but the non-scripted things really sell the campaign.
The Elites have always been my favorites, but I really hope that the AI in the next halo gets smarter than they already are because more bad guys doesn’t always make the encounter better. In Halo CE, the bad guys dodged your grenades. In H2, they boarded your ghost and stole it, in H3 the Flood literally infected people before your eyes. In Reach, the Skirmishers were…everywhere (and Jackals with shields were bad enough)
So, what do you want to see the AI do in the next game? I wanna see the grunts try and tackle the Chief from above and stick a grenade in his helmet, or at least greater squad tactics, Jackals overlapping their shields to protect one another, marines actually doing something… I’m no programmer, so this is probably harder than I think it is. Thoughts?
Flood appear from trees like in Halo Wars’ cutscene would be cool. Yeah I liked Skirmisher, would be great see they return.
But I would REALLY like to see AI Battles between Flood and Prometheans, and also Arbiter’s Faction against Storm Covenant.
Part of me was a bit disappointed when the covenant decided to ally themselves with prometheans. It makes sense from story standpoint, but made the game less dynamic. There are no different enemy factions, just you versus all the bad guys.
That’s the main reason I want flood to return. More AI battles in the future please.
I actually want the Marines or any Allies to actually be more effective in battle instead of being bullet sponges or killing me with their grenades on accident
AI should be upgrades hugely, now that the hardware allows for it. Personaly I’d like to see jackles operate vehicles and turrets. Allys not shoot dead enimies when there are active enemies. Grunts not panic so much. Enemies persuing the player after being attacked. And opposite, stay and fortify rather than massively attack, situationally of course.
