i have seen it both ways from the community. some believe Halo 5 Guardians looks great and will be another master piece added to the franchise. others see it as call of duty with mjolnir armor. others think 343 should focus on MCC and fix that first. What do you guys think about the whole situation??
I’m reserving final judgment until it releases, but I’m pretty concerned that they’re trying to fix things that weren’t broken in CE-3, especially that:
-The pace will be so fast that gameplay devolves into a chaotic crapshoot a la Call of Duty rather than team skill based map control play
-Spartan abilities are just 343 being stubborn and rehashing a concept proven by AAs in Reach/H4 to be broken
I’m not sure a 1 month beta will tell us all that much, either. Heck, even the turd that was Halo 4 was fun for a few weeks. Real test will be 6 months or a year after its launch.
Of the two, I’m most concerned about the general speed of the game. If Halo turns into a frenetic twitch shooter (or something close to that) it won’t be Halo anymore, and it will die, because CoD is so dominant in that niche.
Is that a joke?
I think it is Halo.
There’s still shields and health, and ARs and BRs.
It still seems to play like Halo.
It’s still slower than CoD.
So Halo 5.
Not Call of Duty.
if it was CoD than it would be 1 or two hits to the head and death. no, its still 4 shots to kill, its still recharging shields, its still accurate hip fire, its still descope.

Halo 5 looks very cool, and I think it will feel like Halo (the only big mistake is the horrible hit detection sound >_<)

Halo 5 is not cod!
-
well, I think they can fix MCC and work on Halo 5 simultaneosly, they should have enough resources XD I guess
And to clarify my standpoint Halo 5 is Halo 5. Cod is fun but will no way ever be a Halo game

Nothing in any of the gameplay I have seen suggests that Halo 5 is in any danger of becoming a twitch shooter. The people that have actually played the game have explicitly said it feels very much like halo. This gameplay review specifically addresses several of the issues you’re talking about:
-equal starts
-new base abilities that allow more strategy and mobility, increasing the skill gap
-weapons on the map, with map control returning as a focus
-that same Halo sandbox we know and love with some new additions
-long kill times (a bit shorter than the usual Halo, maybe, but still much longer than any other FPS)
-so far 3/3 maps that look great
GIMME
Halo 5 wanna at least play that story
COD suck it halo is a hole lot better
It doesn’t feel anything like COD.
I tried playing some AW with the hopes of preparing me for the thruster pack…nope. Way too different of a game. TTK is insanely fast in COD.

Get out of here with your actual hands-on experience.

Like I’ve said, people liked Halo 4 and thought it played like Halo the first time they played it too. It will take a while - probably more than the 1 month beta - for people to discern if the game “feels like Halo” or not.
would be more apt to get halo 5 rather than cod just due to the fact CoD has never done anything revolutionary with their games or drastically improved a game of theirs.
I have yet to see a single good argument for the CoD-clone perspective.
