Call of Duty: Marine/Halo Warfare

I know this will never happen but…

Imagine a day that content runs out and so, 343i and Activision do a collaboration together to creat a CoD game based in the Halo Universe. In their perspective, you play in the mechanics of Call of Duty as a Halo marineʻs POV running around the campaign shooting down elites and knights while you constantly have to hide and slows heal from the red screen. It would have nothing to do with the main Halo story but its own, just, in the mechanics of Call of Duty for those that want to play as marine in the Halo universe. You know, a side game.

I would honestly think that could bring some peace with some crazy players out there yelling at each franchise…or maybe destroy it more…

I think that a Halo game from the perspective of a marine character has some good potential. But I don’t think 343 would need to team up with someone else (especially not Activision…) to pull it off. If it were up to me, I’d make it more like an old-fashioned FPS where your health doesn’t regenerate. This would help highlight the differences between regular soldiers and Spartans and make for a more intense experience. Instead of feeling like a lone-wolf hero who decimates entire alien armadas, you’d be just a soldier trying to survive an onslaught from bloodthirsty and zealous aliens.

I think Halo gameplay is miles ahead of COD so I vote nah. Not that I wouldn’t at least try it if this did happen.

There is Halo then there is fifty feet of crap then there is Call of Duty.

Reach and H4 were pretty much Call of Duty games so…

So was Halo 5 with the slide, Aiming & the Clamber along with the Weapon attachment Loadouts

I’ve also thought this would be a neat idea. I remember playing halo reach and role-playing as a marine in a custom firefight match as a kid. I would set sheilds to 500% and disable regeneration to “feel like a marine” I even reduced melee to 50%.

Now as for making ‘Halo of Duty’ them’s fight’n words around these forums, but I still love the idea nevertheless. How I would design the game is squad based. I remember in Quake 4 the medic and engineer marines would restore your health and armor respectively(if they’re still alive). Something else that would be cool is squad load outs for yourself and AI teammate presets like heavy, sniper, medic, commando, ect… that all have different weapons and equipment. Mechanics like these would be cool. I love ODST’s to death this game would need to beef up the ally AI increasing by the fire rate and grenade doge length and reaction speed maybe throw in some squad commands(hopefully better commands than H5’s.

I never want to see Halo with a title like that or as a game ever

Some people are quick to accuse certain features in Halo as being shameless COD ripoffs. I imagine the same is also true for some other FPS games out there. Nonetheless, I think comparing Halo to COD for having things like loadouts and abilities is a hasty judgment. Even with Halo 4 and its custom loadouts and ordinance, it was still a tactical shooter at its core. Meanwhile, COD is a twitch shooter with significantly faster time-to-kill. That’s the line that separates Halo from COD.

In fact, some arguments with this topic just fall flat. I remember some people have said that Halo 4 (2012) copied thruster packs from Advanced Warfare (2014).

This is inevitably going to turn into a comparison thread or lead to dev bashing neither of which are allowed here.
