I don’t know if it’s just lag in the killcam or whatever, but I’ve been noticing something extremely frustrating for the past few days. It would seem that the Halo 5 beta has taken on an even larger CoD appeal with the fact that you don’t have to hit someone to hurt them anymore! Seriously, every time I’ve been killed the killcam consist of the enemy player spraying burst all over the place, hitting walls and floors and other teammates, yet he’s still getting hit markers. In my experience, Halo was the game where you actually had to be accurate with your shots, but it would seem that has been tossed in the trash along with everything else that made Halo so enjoyable. Sigh…Oh well, at least you had sense enough to bring some version of Map control back.
Actually, you still do have to hit people to kill them, it’s just that the killcams are inaccurate and make that appear not-so. I found a good explanation why and have provided it below…
> Pretty much there are 2 versions of the game running. The one you see and the one the server resolves everything on.
>
> The version you see is running slightly ahead of the other version. There server collects all the time stamps of the data as it comes in to see what was happening and corrects for lag.
>
> Pretty much it’s checking to make sure you fired a hit on target from your point of view in the game when you fired the shot. If it see that that was true.
>
> It sends a signal to your client that you died and drops you. Because the client was still running while the game was figuring out that you died you have actual move a little bit during that time. So it cancels out those action after it decided you had died.
The above quote was concerning MW2’s killcams, but it still applies here.
