Now this idea may seem crazy, but after seeing a couple of comments here and there about it, I decided to share it with the wonderful Universe community for your thoughts. As we know, the new COD trailer was released and it has a large amount of space warfare. It has been stated that it is much further into the future than black ops 3, which takes place in 2065. The major conflict in the game is said to be the settlement defense front attack earth forces. Now to me, this sounds very similar to the interplanetary wars in the early years of the Halo Universe. As a big universe and campaign fan, I really wouldn’t object a call of duty that crossed over with Halo. The story sounds very similar. What do you guys think?
I was thinking the same thing about the Interplanetary War. However, I’d much rather it be its own game rather than COD.
No. no no no no
yea call of duty is just milking the cash cow. Cod is halo 6 guys enjoy
Two separate franchise, two separate universes. Despite any similarities they share, they are separate and should stay that way. I would never want Halo and CoD to crossover.

It wouldn’t make any sense either cause the Covenant would rip CoD soldiers apart.

Considering this takes place very early in the Halo timeline, Covenant would not play a role at all. The interplanetary wars took place in the solar system and are responsible for the formation of the UNSC. From a gameplay standpoint I can understand why you wouldn’t want a crossover, but Infinity Ward has shown with the Modern Warfare series that I can make a good campaign and story. It would be great to see a well crafted story about the interplanetary wars with some good boots on the ground combat.

Maybe not, UNSC Marines don’t have much higher level tech than the current-age CoD grunt (judging by Infinite Warfare anyway, and lets not even get started about the exo suits from Advanced Warfare)…and they held the Covie’s off for 30 years. The UNSC only really lost in space. On the ground it was more even.
The only things I would take out of the Call of Duty series that could fit within the Halo Universe would be the technology they use during those time periods. We all know that the technology used during World at War, Black ops 1, 80’s missions Black Ops 2, and the Modern Warfare Trilogy are canon, since that technology exists within our reality, which is Halo Canon as well. But, excluding Ghosts and Advanced Warfare, it’s possible that the technology featured in Black Ops 2 and 3, and maybe Infinite Warfare could be something similar to what the UN and UNSC later used during those time periods during the Wars of the 2080’s, 2090’s, and the colloquial Interplanetary Wars of the 2160’s. However, the stories from the COD games are not and could not be canon, albeit for several principles as possible exceptions. For instance, the closest stories to Canon would be World at War and Black Ops 1, as they take place during wars that actually occurred in Halo Canon. Although, since these are historical fiction, the characters themselves are not canon, just the events that took place. Except the whole numbers thing in Black Ops. Another exception that could be Halo Canon is the naming of a US Navy Ship called the USS Obama. That could potentially occur within our reality. And the possibility of having a Female US president, as featured in Black Ops 2. I mean, that could very well happen this year if Hillary Clinton wins the election. All in all, the only things that could be taken from Call of Duty that can possibly be considered Halo Canon is the technology featured in the games roughly during those time periods, not the stories.

Mind exploded
If CoD gets anywhere near Halo’s lore, I’m done.

Actually there’s mention of a Third World War I think, so MW could technically fit into it.
Not Advanced Warfare or Ghosts though.

There is no World War 3 in Halo Canon. The last major war in Halo Canon Earth ever saw before the “First Colonial War” (my personal dubbed name) of the 2080’s was the Iraq War that began in 2003 and ended in 2011. This is fact because our history, up until presumably the year of 2021, is part of Halo canon. 2021 is the presumed reality split from our reality into fictional Halo Canon, as the fictional International Society of Civil Engineers is created that year. Now, if World War 3 occurs between now in 2016 and 2021, or is still ongoing after 2021, then it will be Canon, as it started before or during 2021.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 entails World War 3. However, because the events leading up to it began in 2011 (COD4MW1), and picked back up in 2016 (MW2), and since these events did not occur in reality, Modern Warfare cannot fit into Halo Canon, as the events in the trilogy did not happen in reality; and again, everything reality entails is canon, even you and I. However, the technology used in these games is canon, as the technology featured in them are real weapons, vehicles, etc, making them Halo Canon.
If World War 3 in our reality occurs after 2021 though, then its canon status will be dubious, unless the events directly leading up to it occurred before or during 2021. The same goes for technology created after 2021. For example, in Halo canon, the first true artificial intelligence, presumably a Dumb AI, was created in the mid-21st century. Lets just say this was, oh, 2054. If, in our reality, the first true Artificial Intelligence is created in say, 2035, then that will not be considered Halo Canon, since it takes place after 2021. If the first artificial intelligence is created before or during 2021, then the statement of it being created in 2054 is not technically false. It could have been that the one created in 2054 was the first of its kind, different from the one created in our reality. Again, this is all assuming these events will occur in our reality.
So, assuming World War 3 will occur (and lets pray it doesn’t) before or during 2021, or after depending on the events leading up to it, making it part of Halo Canon, then the list of major wars Humanity faced during the 21st century would be in this order:
-Iraq War 2003-2011
-World War 3 <_2021->_2021
-“First Colonial War” 2080’s-2090
If it occurs way after 2021, or the events leading up to it did not begin before or during 2021, then World War 3 is not Canon. As such, the list will remain the same with the exception of World War 3.
I hope this clears up some possible confusion. And yes, Ghosts and Advanced Warfare cannot fit, technology or story wise, as the technology used in BO3 makes more sense, realistically and Halo wise.
Sincerely,
p1ay4OURFUN
Despite hate it’s getting, Infinite Warfare looks like the first interesting CoD in years. Crossing over with Halo, though? Hell no. It would be so confusing- what’s canon in CoD may not be canon in Halo and vice versa.
No, no. Hell no. No. God no.
Jesus Christ no. Please no.
… Probably not a good idea.
-Yoink- no.
NO
please god no.
This is a link to Gamer’s Little Playground Game Movie of Infinite Warfare CoD could some one maybe get a msg to Infinity Ward and 343i about 13:18 into the movie you hear the literal un scripted subtitile “Coming up is the UNSC destroyer Eclipse.” I am wondering did they buy the copyrights or is UNSC even copyrighted? In no way shape or form Am I trying to start a fan war. Just was wondering if I could see I could get an answer as to whats with the DIRECT scripted crossover?

They say “UNSA,” not UNSC. It’s the United Nations Space Alliance. This, however, is still very similar to the United Nations Space Command.
For more similarities check out halofollower.
