Activision, masters of milking every penny out of their titles, appears to have one-upped Bungie’s online stats hub. Naturally, COD Elite will have some features locked behind a paywall, which will make it inferior to b.net, which has its own premium service Bungie Pro. B.net is a great site with plenty of information, but it hasn’t changed in the nearly 4 years since Halo 3 was released. Bungie came up with some great features for Halo 3- forge, theater, b.net(not new for h3 but improved). Those were great features in 2007, but where was the evolution in 2010 with Reach.
This seems like a thread that belongs on bungie’s website since you mention them and not 343i. Also, if you didn’t see an evolution in Reach, you should probably get your eyes checked.

Bungie is essentially done with Halo. Therefore discussing here hoping for some improvements to the next Halo.
And my eyes are fine, thanks.
Reach has:
- Campaign- Matchmaking- Custom Games- Forge- Firefight- Theater- Spartan Customization
For the most part, every part has improved at some level (and decayed in some areas). Forge has been greatly improved. As well as customization for your Spartan and for custom games. Remember, game disks have a limit to how much you can have on them. Halo: Reach is not exempt. And besides how many games have ALL these features? And B.net has changed in the last 4 years, maybe not drastically but it has.
Ω
COD Elite has nothing Bungie or Waypoint doesn’t already offer.
Call of Duty Elite seems to have everything Bungie has had for years now.
I’ll say thank you to Bungie, 343i, Claude Errera and those that followed in their steps. Nothing else needs be said.
I wonder if the paid part of COD Elite will be a service like Bungie Pro.
actually this is a great place to post this since 343 will be running halo and have a lot to live up too.
As of right now when I go to my stats I don’t even have my own profile to login into on waypoint…When I look up my stats I still go to bnet where I can view my videos, download my screens check my stats and have my own personal profile… Plus wayppoint stats are all over the place and ver unorganized.
Im not saying this to knock 343 at all just hope they can live up too and surpass the creators of halo and bring us better options and such in the future.

Speaking of Errera, what is the big draw of HBO? I have visited that site several times but could never get into the whole 90s era website. I know the guy has been a big Bungie booster since before Halo and there is a lot of loyalty to Errera on the part of Bungie, but what do people find at that site?
I couldn’t finish watching the trailer on the dashboard. I couldn’t bear it too much. But from what I gathered, the main thing is groups. [Someone complete what I missed] The stats are there too but hey we’ve already got that, for free.
I guess this is a good excuse for clans/groups to come back to halo. It might be!
I personally don’t like clans/guilds/groups that much but… I sometimes do exceptions, [SWTOR, I made a republic group for halo waypoint if any one wants to join.] But for many others who want them…
It should also be free.
Clans were great in MechWarrior2 and Rainbow6:BA. But then again, that’s because I was in them and loved those games. In the end it was almost exclusively clan-matches.
Didn’t really take in Halo2. It was a different beast.
COD Elite is just another way of milking customers. Its a big slap in the face for COD gamers when the likes of Waypoint/Bnet, and the Killzone and Resistance websites offer stat tracking features for free.
If I had MW3, I certainly wouldn’t pay for Elite, not when I know it should be free. The worst part is, gamers will actually pay for it, which will encourage Activision to continue - paving the way for a multiplayer subscription.

WOW - You wanna talk about ships passing in the night…
What MW2 and RB6 clans were you in?
To me CoD Elite looks like a ripoff with a subscription of what we have been getting for Halo on bungie.net for free for a long time.

I think HBO does a great job of being an all-encompassing Halo news site. They run a much more complete news blog than the one at bungie.net, plus they have some fantastic content with things like Tyrant’s Mythic Guides.

DUde this has to be posted in Bnet since you ate talking about Bungies website and not waypoints.

The news updates points out a lot of fan stuff regarding Halo. I love fan stuff (mostly XP), and the changing photos on the left and corner are always entertaining.

I see. When I navigate that site it seems to be more of a tribute to CE- other than the news feed- with a lot of the big fansite that popped up an outgrowth of people and ideas formed on HBO.

Or we could just discuss what elements of b.net and COD Elite we hope 343 implements in future Halo titles. This is the general Halo forum after all.
