Cadet, XO, Captain Thomas Laskey

A question about one of my favorite characters of the Halo Universe…a question of continuity.

In the FUD vignettes, he’s bald, a little overweight and still has the scar on his lip. Yet, in the game (H4) he’s a pretty handsome dude and reintroduces himself to Cheif as if they had never met. Also, in Halo 4 he appears way too young. Going roughly by dates, he should be pushing 50 at the time of H4.

So what’s up here? Thoughts?

Cryo sleep accounts for age. Sergeant Johnson was somewhere around 80 during the events of the games and he was pretty spry. The appearance thing is just change of actors. Lasky’s final appearance probably wasn’t finalized at the time they chose and dressed the actor for his scenes.

Other than the young Laskey, the more current versions are all animated. So why not make them look similar. At least having H4 Laskey with the scar on his lip and maybe a receding hairline. They’re just so different…I wondered if there was a major time difference I’m missing here.

thomas lasky was kidnapped by oni and replaced by a military-trained and augmented clone that was created from the preserved remains of Jimmy Fallon.

This. Changes. Everything.

I actually had the same issue, but for some reason was ok with it nonetheless. I thought the digital Laskey in H4 was more reminiscent of Tom Green, but the actor playing the older Laskey in FUD seemed more like a person who had lived a hard life of giving it to the covvies after losing his family and friends.

Ty Olsson played him in Forward Unto Dawn, for those few brief seconds. I wish they would have modeled the CG after him and had him do the voice work, but the CG Lasky in H4 was solid enough.

Yeah that’s the weird part, I like both versions of the older Laskey.
