Cable vs Fiber Optic Connection

Cable companies like Xfinity/Comcast are great for upload speed connections: the one I was looking at would be “Blast! 300Mbps down and 10Mbps up”
The one problem with cable I have noticed is that it requires a modem then router. Plus on the East side they shut down for fixes or reset. Probably to too much bandwidth.

Fiber Optic connections that throw down cat5 land lines: are little more reliable regarding bandwidth, depends on what you pay for though. Less outages.
too bad it fluctuates when downloading though.

So I guess what I am getting at is, which is better Cable or Fiber Optic Connection? Which one is more compatible? I guess it would depend on the router. Modem. or the All-in-one combo.

Fiber optic hands down. Cat5 is copper wire.
