I wonder how many H5 players know the origin of the BXR medal?
What I’m really asking is out of all the H5 population how many are new to halo?

Ive been playing for 7 years and have no idea what it stands for so I wouldnt call it something that shows whether or not a player is old or new

There have been people who have played this game for years who have never played the campaign. I find that to be much more egregious than this.
I don’t think that it really matters. Sure, there are a lot of new players, but what’s the difference? Nothing other than skill. You will probably never know the difference, anyway. My first Halo was 3. The first one I owned was CE Anniversary. I know what BXR is, and I’m able to make guys who have been playing Halo since day one cry for their mothers.

Totally agree!
Isn’t that from halo 2? Melee then quick shot or something?

Its a melee followed by a headshot so yes you are correct. You can earn a bxr medal through any form of melee including spartan charge
It was a Halo 2 button combo glitch that allowed you to melee and then quickly headshotting them. It’s melee, reload to cancel melee animation, then headshot.
What everybody else has said: What BXR stands for Idk, but I forsee the origin of the BXR medal originating from Halo 2
It stands for button inputs B followed by X then finally right trigger hence BXR.

Bxr started in H2
I was in no way saying the length of time you’ve played Halo has any bearing on skill.
Just putting it out there.
Curious to know how many of the population are new to Halo compared to the people who have played since 2004 like myself

I started with halo 2 where the bxr was born brother. Using the halo 2 br in h5 sends shivers down my spine every time I fire it. Very pleased with the Jan update. Now if I can just get my falcon I’d have my wish list (throwing a bruteshot or grenade launcher in there wouldn’t hurt either lol).
started with halo ce back in the origianl xbox at a friends place before getting my own copies of halo pc and eventually halo 2 vista when it came out.
did a bit of 3 and reach at lan parties, so i have only vaguely heard about this term, got my own console only very recently.

In Halo 2 BXR was crazy. You could kill a sword lunger faster than they could kill you. On of my favorite memories is winning 50-49 by killing a lunging sword guy with BXR.

Thats amazing, can you still perform the bxr in Halo 5 like you could in halo 2?
I have been playing since the release of CE, the only Halo game I didn’t properly play was Reach. This had to do with CoD BO1 coming out I believe.

Nope. Only in Halo 2. They even took it out of Halo 2 Anniversary though normal h2 in MCC still has it I believe.
You could even do BxB for fast kills. Same idea, melee, cancel animation with x(reload) and melee again. Pretty much instant kills.
Then it got even crazier with double shots, etc. I think it was RRXYYRRX would get you 4 shots off faster than you could normally do 2 shots. I was inconsistent at double shots but when I got them pulled off it was awesome!
(H2 also had sword flying and a million other fun glitches in multiplayer)
Oh man. I remember double shots, BXR and the friggin duck BXB.
I’ve been playing Halo since when it was called Hal.
