I’ve never tried buying anything from the Microsoft Store, so I have to ask.
If I buy (pre-order) Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition right now, does it count for my Xbox as well?
When going through the Xbox app, it opens up the Microsoft Store but doesn’t show price or the ability to buy it. However, when I search for it through the Microsoft Store (app), it shows me a price etc.
Since I’m not near my xbox for a while, I’d like to play HW Definitive Edition while not home but I’d hate to spend so much money and not have it available on my Xbox!
When you buy the game make sure you buy it on the account that you use on your xbox. As they are trying to roll in the play anywhere feature you can literally play anywhere just so long as you have access to the account at no additional cost!
Once you have purchased it (and its released) I assume you will be able to go into the store on your xbox and then download it on there.

When you buy it digitally you can play it on xbox and windows 10
As long as the game is digital, you will get it for both PC and Xbox as long as you are signed into both your PC and Xbox on the same account.
If you buy a digital copy from the Microsoft Store be sure to be using the account which you use for your Xbox and PC.
