343 should be encouraging people to buy the game, instead of sticking with the F2P model by providing a premium experience to those who do buy Halo, by providing the following;
A free pack of base colour armor coatings for all armor, exculsive logo’s, unique AI, markings and more for your profile.
Making all armor coatings universally usable, infinite amount of times on all armor cores and pieces.
The store page removed from the game menu and said players given complete access to all present and future customization
All present and future customization will mostly be locked behind new time sink requirements and acheivements from MP and the campaign, some of it should be free and some of it from timed events instead of all of it coming from microtransactions and the hidous battle pass.
It’s not too late at all, if the player base boycott’s the MP we can stop customization from being locked behind a paywall I know the whales, the weak willed and the naive have already given in and spend money on the store while the games in beta, but that doesn’t mean the rest of us have to do the same, we all have a voice if we keep the pressure on with a consistant flow of critical feedback Microsoft will have to listen and make changes
343 spent a $500 million budget on Infinite and it’s still busted. They’re not just shrugging off half a billion in debt so maybe a million people will give them $60 for 10 years of free stuff. They would go bankrupt. The DLC stays, and Battle Pass stays, but the Campaign should unlock exclusive items and stuff for Mark VII for sure.
That premium experience as you describe it, is a thing of the past when it comes to microsoft. I started to notice it with Gears 4 and it’s clearly been successful for them as they just keep pushing the line.
Well maybe just saying microsoft is being a bit disingenuous as it’s really every multiplayer title out there that has some form of recurring monetization strategy, however microsoft games have been some of the most egregious imo.
I’m in that boat with you. Do you think there is value to deleting it, or just not playing it? I’m certainly not paying for it, and after 20 years I’m not buying the game on release for the first time. I think I’ll wait and see if decent changes are ever made before buying the campaign.
Who wanted a 10 year game and who asked for one, I think the majority of us just wanted a new Halo game. You know what 10 year game means ? it means 10 years of monetized content, it means dig deep cause if you wanna play Halo your going to have to take out a second morgage
If your not really bothered about playing the campaign on release then hold off on buying Halo until it becomes worth it for you, keep the MP installed have fun with it when your in the mood for Halo maybe finish the Tenrai event when it’s on again if you started it. But I suspect real change in MP will take months and months I’d wait like you said give it 6 months to see what happens I mean the MP experience is good and it can only get better and from early reviews the campaign is meant to be really good too.
I dont think they need anything that dramatic and that requires all that redesigning. They just need to add exclusive challenges for people who own campaign that reward credits on completion, and rotate/reset weekly
That’s only for people who care about cosmetics. The other alternatives to cosmetics are selling power or selling content, and I’d rather have 343 sell cosmetics than break game balance or split the population.
All I meant by that is 10 year games rarely last long, if 343 took the same route as say what Bungie did with Destiny, looking at the life cycle of Destiny and adding up what the base requirements have been to continue to play the “new content” as it is released from it’s launch date to current expansion (not including discounted expansion bundles stuff like that) maybe the store and microtransactions are just the beginning and the real fisting is yet to come
You want to pay full price today, then have access to 10 years worth of free content? That’s not just unrealistic, it’s unreasonable. You’re already going to get all the gameplay updates free, maps, weapons, modes. All I think is lacking is some more customisation included in the campaign release. If a combination of the first BP and the campaign gave you access to roughly the same amount of customisation as reach did then I think it’s in a pretty good place.
Oh no I don’t want 10 years of anything, I just want a good, solid Halo game with a shelf life of 3-4 years, the 10 year game stuff can do one. I really hope something like that happens and we find out some proper news on the 8th Dec in terms of customization but I just don’t think it will yet and were probably talking months now before we do get in a good place.
