What does the point of the up (or down, I forget) button on the D-Pad do? I mean, it does some weird stuff on the radar, but… I don’t know exactly what it does.
It flashes your service tag above your head, relaying your position to your teammates.
It can be used as a SOS signal, or as a crude form of communication.
The only direction on the D-pad that doesn’t have a function is down. I’ve seen a few people say that 343 should add a weapon inspection function to Halo, similar to CS: GO. I really see nothing wrong with it. We would be able to see the weapon skins they add more clearly.

They could use the Idle animations.

Good idea. The only difference would be that the animation would play on demand, versus waiting a few minutes for it to play.

Thanks. I never knew.

Some of the idle animations look sick. The Boltshot is surprisingly stylish.

Only reason anyone uses it.

The Forerunner weapons’ animations in general are cool. And the boltshot isn’t that bad. The tracking on it can be useful. It’s a step up from the Halo 4 iteration, albeit without the charged shot.

I used the charged shot a lot in halo 4. Kinda sad to see it go.
did they ever say why?

I didn’t know that, too! Thanks for the information.
The idea to use the Down-button to inspect your weapon is pretty cool as well.

Probably because the charged shot was considered too powerful: in situations were you were no-shield, you could back down in cover, wait for your opponent to get near you and kill him with one shot from the Boltshot - it was basically a Shotgun in your loadout. Many people complained about that and I think that’s why it was changed for H5.
If memory serves me right, the flashing radar / service tag has been around since Anvil’s Legacy, which was released back in September 2016.
I actually had no idea the dpad did anything outside of the story…

They could replace it with a longer charged 4 shot.

I’m not sure 343 would do that. There really aren’t any weapons that have multiple ways to fire. The only ones I can think of are the Halo 4 incineration cannon, and the plasma caster. I don’t think weapons should have that function. Seems kind of OP, to have a weapon that can play multiple roles.
nice, didnt know eather whta d-pad does, i usually give vehicles in FFWZ to the lower players on the scoreboard, getting the attention of someone is kind of har, i will give it a try.
