-I’d like to discuss the button layouts of Halo 4-
According to This MLG forum post the button layout in Halo 4 is simmalar to CoD, Crysis and other shooters on the market.
Sprint and AA’s
I believe that at a Halo Player we should have priority to newer gamers. Why have sprint as LS, that completely changes how a person uses the controller. We should get layouts we are familiar to such as:
Sprint-LB and AA-B or something of the sorts.
Please post what you would like to see in a button layout.
This is my preferred one:
A- Jump
B- Action/Reload
X- Sprint (Similar to Reach’s Bumper Jumper layout)
Y- Swap Weapons
LS- Crouch
RS- Zoom
LB- Armor Ability
RB- Melee
LT- Grenade
RT- Shoot
Up:D-pad - Change Grenade Type
Down:D-pad - Toggle Night Vision/VISR
We need the option to customize our layouts so that we as players can use something we are familiar to.
A - Jump--------------------------------------------------------------Jump
B - Melee--------------------------------------------------------------Melee
X - Armour Ability------------------------------------------------------Switch Grenade
Y - Switch weapon------------------------------------------------------Switch weapon
LS - Crouch------------------------------------------------------------Crouch
RS - Zoom-------------------------------------------------------------Zoom

Ummmm Wouldn’t it be around 4.38x10^10?
That doesnt sound right…

Agreed, it’s pointless to discuss layouts when we don’t even know which one’s already present and not. It could turn into a massive flamewar over something that’s already present, but can’t be discussed due to NDA.
We know there will be a multitude of options, and I bet at least one of them will work for you guys, don’t worry ^^
Personally, I’d like something like this:
A - Switch Grenades
B - Action/Reload
X - Sprint
Y - Switch Weapon
RB - Zoom
RT - Shoot
LB - Jump
LT - Grenade
RS - Melee
LS - Crouch
Left - AA
Right - Flashlight
Up - Switch to Forge mode (in Forge)
We better get full customization of the controller layout. I highly dislike changing to cods format even if it does make sense. It completely ruins any Halo skills I have since everything was so instantaneous with those controls. Now after 10 years of playing I have to change completely? Doesn’t make any sense why we can’t tune the controls to cater to our preference of layout. Definitely going to make crouch-jumping harder and more annoying to perform. I do know we get other controller layout options but what I’m saying is why don’t we get 100% control over the layout instead of preset options.?
A-Jump
B-Melee
X-Reload/Pick-up weapons/Enter Vehicles
Y-Swap Weapons
LB-Sprint
RB-AA
Left Trigger-Grenade
Right Trigger-Fire Weapon
Down on Left Control Stick-Crouch
Down on Right Control Stick-Zoom
D-Pad-Switch Grenades
This is how I prefer to play Halo 4. I don’t know about you guys but if I can’t have this I’m going to be quite upset. Even for Halo:Reach I switched my controls to Recon to have more of a traditional halo layout and my BPR is 100. Couldn’t imagine how bad it would be trying to play with a completely different control layout. I remember the first time I played halo after playing cod for a while…Poor teammates got blown up every time I went to zoom in with the br.

I think it would be smarter to have a button on the D-Pad to change between srpint and AA’s on the button of choice.
