Button layout suggestion

I’m a bumper jumper player. While I love the new abilities, I think the controls are wonky.

Specifically, Stabilize and Ground Pound could be implemented better. They are seemingly related due to the mid-air hover. As it stands, the button presses for these two seemingly related abilities are too unrelated. Here’s how I think it should go:

After pressing the Jump button, press and hold Jump a second time to “stabilize.” This should cause a hover to occur. This would also bring up the Ground Pound red target.

At this point, players should have two choices. Pressing the Smart Scope button while holding jump would initiate the stabilize zoom we see in Stabilize now. Alternately, holding down the “melee” button would allow the player to aim the Ground Pound target with the right stick. Releasing would initiate Ground Pound.

I believe this control scheme is more intuitive, and would also simplify these two abilities. Thoughts?

See, I play Bumper Jumper as well and my only gripe is that I instinctively try to crouch jump and end up hitting ground pound, but once my mind stops messing with me I think the controls would be ok for me.
If the jump button was also used for stabilize, grenade usage would be a little tougher in that moment. To me, those ideas (while good) make these two abilities more complicated to use. Plus, I use auto stabilize so I don’t have to worry about that. Just my opinion though.

I too play bumper jumper, and have the same problem with ground pound, I would like to see it get remapped to the D-pad (up or down). I also think group pound should be cancellable with melee, often while in the air I accidently crouch (habit) right before I melee but because of ground pound I do nothing.
