Button Layout responsible for melee speed?

Hey guys, i’m suffering from a real problem: if i go into a melee fight with enemies, i loose 75% because they can melee faster than me. If we hit the first melee at the exact same time, they seem to be able to melee me a second time when i’m not even finished with the first animation.

To test this, me and my friend went into custom game. He plays with another button layout where he has to melee with B, i use the standart (RB)

And it absolutely looks like the melee with B lets you re-melee faster!
We changed controller, so I had to melee with B and vice versa… during like 15mins, always the one uf us with the B Button melee won the duel.

Was it bad luck? Is the button layout really effecting the melee speed? How do people melee and a split second later shoot?
Can you somehow interrupt the animation to shoot faster after??

Or is it just the yoinking “dedicated server” that dont work, as I play 9/19 on US servers??

Maybe it’s because the bumpers on the One controller suck? That would be my guess. Reloading can be a hassle sometimes with Recon because of this.

No we even trief different controllers to test this out. Its like he can melee me 2 times in 2 seconds and it takes me 4 seconds

I feel like my controller is at fault too… but its really just me being bad.

I use a Elite Controller and have meele on one of the “paddles”

I use recon all the time and I win tons of my melee fights so you might be right.

Lol what? I have noticed this as well. I can assure you it is not faulty hardware. The elite controller is very well built unlike its predecessors. Halo 5 is the only game I have noticed this issue. Melee and sprint both lagging depending on the button layout and controller setup. For instance Recon button layout would always cause melee and switch weapon action to delay. Here is my current setup, working great.
Bumper Jumper:
Left paddle: jump
Right paddle: thrust
A: sprint
X: reload / action

Try using boxer.

Same problem that i have , RB on melee is imbarassing delayed , i ve switch to an elite controller recently and i have the same problem …i was loosing 80% of the fights …then i remapped the melee on a normal button and voila , problem solved …
