Button combinations in halo 4

Forgive me if this has already been brought up but i had a look and couldn’t find anything.

So, as I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Halo 4 (as I am sure many of you are also), I searched high and low for information and feel I am currently up to date. However, this leaves me with one very important question:

If everybody has sprint plus an armour ability in Halo 4, what button combinations are going to be available?

I am a big fan of bumper jumper in Reach and, since switching to the button configuration in reach, realized this prevents me from effectively using jetpack whilst aiming…Now with “sprint” being standard in Halo 4 (confirmed) I understand the buttons will have to be mixed up in order to accommodate for what is essentially 2 armour abilities.

Why not post what button combinations you think there will (or there should) be in Halo 4.
I will start with my idea for one I would like:

Left stick:sprint
right stick:aim

a: change grenade
b:reload/activate/pick up weapon
x:armour ability 1
y:change weapon

LB: jump
LT: grenade
RB:melee
RT:shoot

d-pad: T-bag, enemy tagging, ???

any Ideas or preferences? - come on peeps, this input needs to be given!

Good topic to bad I don’t really know what I want yet I just wish you could set up your own setup.

I eagerly want to know what they’ll do.

Perhaps they will remove crouching altogether or…

When you’re jumping and press the left thumb-stick, you will bring your legs up as per usual, but when you are on the ground you will sprint.

Looks like bumper jumper will be removed - tbf… it is the go to button setup for anyone with senses.

In a game that prides itself on having level playing fields… its surprising how much the button configuration can make amateur players godly.

I mean… anybody ever heard of gandhi hopping?

It’s when you jump and fully -Yoink!- the crouch button making you a pain in the -Yoink- to shoot.
I can’t imagine they’ll remove that

Welcome to Waypoint btw.

You haven’t played Halo until you’ve heard of teh Gandhi hopping. :stuck_out_tongue:

A controller setup making a BK good that’s a new one it doesn’t make them shoot any better.

Right Trigger: Shoot
Left Trigger: Grenade
Right Bumper: Melee
Left Bumper: Jump
Right Joystick: Scope
Left Joystick: Crouch
A: Sprint
B: AA
X: Action
Y: Switch Weapon
D-pad: Switch Grenade

One of the mlg pros just play tested it a few days ago said the default pattern had sprint On Left thumbstick and abilities on the B button. but he reported there were many options.

For real - or chinese whispers?

First thing I do is check the button layout’s out first on any game. I play tactical on COD… when I play it anyway.

So I can imagine it’s definitely one of the very first things a MLG try hard will check out.

Maybe what he’s previewed is another alternative to recon or default or bumper jumper.

Looks like I may have to learn to ‘claw’ the control afterall
… sigh

I hope that there is something like the crysis 2 (double tap a button) feature if there aren’t enough buttons rather than them scrapping the feature.

Up D-Pad button = Nightvision
Right D-Pad button = Call in killstreaks

I like the COD controls

If there’s going to be jetpack, I’m going to need that on the left bumper. It’s a pity, really, because I loved bumper jumper in Halo 3. Reach has changed that, however. I also will need to be able to Gandhi hop, so I’ll need that on the left analog stick. Microsoft needs to take notes when they design their next controller: make more buttons that don’t require us to take our thumbs off of the analogue sticks. Maybe add extra bumpers like the Razer controller. Except the controller can’t be a pile of crap. Perhaps some buttons below the triggers would work for our other fingers.

Left stick: Crouch.
Right stick: Scope.

A: Jump.
B: Reload/activate/pick up weapon
X: Sprint.
Y: Change weapon

LB: Armor ability.
LT: Grenade.
RB: Melee
RT: Shoot

I think it should be like this, either you use the d-pad to switch AA’s or if your using jetpack you use the sprint button while your in the air.
