Button Callouts

While I would love forced game chat for ranked games, not everyone agrees and even if it was mandatory, a lot of people would just mute their mic’s. I really like the Overwatch and Rocket league callout chat system. Phrases like “sorry” for friendly fire, death callouts, respawn callouts, etc. would be very helpful to coordinate with people who don’t want to use their mic’s.

Thoughts?

I think a ping system similar to Apex or Siege (aim and ping location) would be better for players with no mics. It would only take up one button, and can be used for all sorts of things like pinging an enemy location or a weapon on the ground.

In BTB and Warzone this’d be awesome. I’m not sure how I feel about it in regards to the “purer” classic Slayer and CTF modes, though, if for no other reason than for maintaining their authenticity and unique “Halo-feel.”

It would modernize the gametypes to have things like what you’re suggesting implemented, I’m just not sure that Halo needs to or should try to compete with the modern scene instead of really rocking in its own niche.

This is a completely unnecessary and shouldn’t even have the effort put forth to make it a reality.

I could see that being an evolution of the spartan chatter system, and if players don’t like it they can always turn it off. It would also be helpful to spot opponents and weapons for other players to see.

Yes I could see it especially helpful in playlists such as doubles to callout power weapon and powerup respawns.

The Spartans do callouts in Halo 5 and I’m not sure what’s wrong with that. It’s very helpful, given that in-game chat has largely fallen off a cliff since Xbox introduced party chats.

The callouts are very helpful when going in solo and no one is talking.

They seem sporadic to me. They don’t do them everytime, and most are cheesy one-liners…

I mean they are sporadic and not every time. There’s no substitute for talking with players live and nor should there be, but they are common throughout the game and I do appreciate them.

With the default button layout we don’t really use the full D pad much so that would be a perfect addition, and could really help communication if enough players take advantage of it.

A simple ping system would be awesome. Simple enough to use, but not necessary for good gameplay experience. As long as there’s a way to mute someone who spams pings…

Combine the existing Spartan chatter system with the mostly underused ping feature we have now perhaps?
Press up when looking at something and your teammates see it.

That’s because people like to report you for anything and everything when you beat them.
